Specifically, according to Milenio, a major Mexican newspaper, at least 27 people died and 17 others were seriously injured in the accident that occurred at 6:30 a.m. (local time) in the town of Magdalena Penasco.

According to emergency workers, the bus was en route from Mexico City to Yosondua when it veered off the road and fell into a ravine more than ten meters deep.

Upon receiving the information, personnel from the Tlaxiaco Civil Guard arrived at the scene and transported the injured to the town of Magdalena Penasco before a private ambulance took them to the Instituto Mexicano de Seguro Social hospital. According to Milenio, the local government also mobilized all medical personnel in the area to promptly treat a large number of victims at the same time.

The victims include 13 males, 13 females and a 1-year-old child. Authorities are conducting autopsies and handing over the bodies to relatives.

Oaxaca State Governor Salomon Jara sent his condolences to the victims' families and pledged to mobilize all resources to save the lives of the injured, as well as implement relevant policies for the victims' families.

Also in the early morning of July 6 (Vietnam time), in South Africa, at least 24 people were found dead in the Angelo informal settlement, Boksburg city, Ekurhuleni after inhaling nitrate oxide gas leaked from a gas cylinder used by zama-zamas in gold mining there.

The gas cylinder is believed to have leaked, suffocating the sleeping people. The gas was so thick that the conscious victims died as they tried to escape. Among the dead were women and children. The youngest victims were 2 and 5 years old.

Search and rescue operations are continuing at the scene to find possible survivors, said William Ntladi, spokesman for the Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Agency.

Mr Ntladi added that it was not yet certain when the gas leak began, but when the incident was discovered at 8pm (local time), all the victims were dead.
