Re-enacting the heroic moment of the day of taking over the capital in Hanoi's Old Quarter

(Dan Tri) - The heroic atmosphere of the Capital Takeover Day has been recreated at the Phung Hung Street mural space to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024), the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter coordinated with units and individuals to organize the program "Memories of Hanoi - 70 years" at the mural space of Phung Hung Street.

The program recreated the real space of ancient Hanoi in the Old Quarter of Hanoi from the period of the National Resistance War of Hanoi's army and people to the day of taking over the capital. Through the decorated and arranged spaces, it aimed to introduce one of the heroic historical periods of the nation to the people and tourists.

October 10, 1954 was an important milestone in the history of construction and development of the Capital and the country, marking a turning point of great significance, opening a new period in the thousand-year history of Thang Long - Dong Do - Hanoi.

The scene recreates the image of the army marching to Hanoi under the red flag with yellow star and the joyful welcome of the capital's people.

The memories of a jubilant Hanoi of the capital's people on the day of welcoming the victorious army in the middle of autumn 70 years ago are still intact in the minds of every historical witness who participated in the great event of October 10, 1954.

Melodies that have been around for years such as "As if there was Uncle Ho on the great victory day", "On the road" ... were performed by veterans of Hoan Kiem district in the space of Phung Hung mural street.

Students in the capital participated in experiencing how to make rubber sandals associated with Uncle Ho and soldiers throughout the history of the fight to protect the independence and sovereignty of the nation.

The program contributes to promoting and educating patriotism to the young generation. Thereby, helping each citizen to have practical and meaningful actions, contributing to the construction of a civilized, traditional and proud capital Hanoi. Do Phuong Nhung (born in 2006) was fortunate to be chosen as one of the young people participating in the performance reenacting the scene of welcoming the army to the capital in the joy of victory. Nhung said that she felt extremely proud, as if she were immersed in the moment 70 years ago.

In the space of Phung Hung mural street, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter coordinated with the magazine Xua va Nay to organize a documentary photo exhibition with the theme "Hoan Kiem District - Historical images", introducing documentary photos of Hoan Kiem District in a decade full of challenges and glory - from the August Revolution in 1945 to the Capital Takeover Day on October 10, 1954.

Along with information and documents introducing the historic march through countless hardships and sacrifices, the army and people of the whole country have established a brilliant milestone, leaving valuable lessons for the next marches on the path of independence, nation and socialism, selected to be introduced on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital, with the advice of Historian Duong Trung Quoc.

The exhibition attracted a large number of domestic and foreign visitors. As planned, the exhibition will take place from October 4 to October 13 at the Phung Hung Street mural space.
