Two students, Tran Vu Quynh Thi and Nguyen Ha Uyen, majoring in Graphic Design at Duy Tan University, were awarded Bronze (third prize) at the Logo Design Competition organized by The International Design Awards (IDA) in the US. In addition, six other students from Duy Tan University who participated in the competition also won Honorable Mentions (encouragement prizes) with their extremely impressive logos.

The International Design Awards (IDA) is an international design award that recognizes and honors outstanding design and discovers new talents in the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, graphics and fashion design worldwide.

The girl with skillful hands, Tran Vu Quynh Thi, is studying Graphic Design at Duy Tan University...

Using the Typography design style to arrange and shape the letters, while cleverly exploiting the similarities and repetitions of the two characters M and E for the "MÊMÊ" brand logo with the desire to widely promote the Northwest apple wine product, student Tran Vu Quynh Thi sketched a creative and impressive logo at first sight. Taking the idea of the two repeated letters "MÊ", combined with the tilting effect, Quynh Thi amplified the feeling of intoxication and intoxication when feeling the aroma and the fine taste of the Northwest apple wine of Vietnam.

Quynh Thi shared: "I was very impressed with the unique fermented drink distilled from the freshest wild apples in the Northwest region. Therefore, I came up with the idea and sketched the first strokes for the brand logo 'MÊMÊ' dedicated to the Northwest wild apple wine product.

Initially, my design used only one monochrome color for the entire logo, so it looked quite monotonous and somewhat boring. However, after receiving feedback from my instructor, I used more bright, contrasting colors to evoke the joyful atmosphere that 'MÊMÊ' brings, and to associate it with the brocade patterns of ethnic groups in the Northwest mountainous region of our country. Thanks to the companionship and enthusiastic support of the lecturers of the Graphic Design Department, Faculty of Applied Arts (under SET) of Duy Tan University, I was able to complete the logo and express my wishes."

Quynh Thi's parents run a small business in Da Nang and always support their daughter's decisions. Although she was majoring in Biology, after many experiences and understanding the major she truly loves and wants to pursue in the long term, Quynh Thi chose to study Graphic Design at Duy Tan University. Quynh Thi hopes to become a UI/UX designer (designing interactive content interfaces and interfaces for applications on online platforms of phone apps or websites) in the future.

Loving ceramic products, another female student of Duy Tan University, Nguyen Ha Uyen, sketched a logo to promote a ceramic brand called " An ceramic studio ". Ha Uyen chose a rustic, simple but sophisticated design to exude a sense of closeness, familiarity and peace, just like the name that the skillful girl gave to this brand.

Student Nguyen Ha Uyen with her passion for making souvenir products…

"I want to create a delicate, lively and unique design to leave a deep impression on customers who love ceramic products. Therefore, the logo design 'An ceramic studio' was created by me with simple lines and elegant colors in handwriting font, bringing the 'rustic' feeling of handmade ceramic production methods. My logo design process received a lot of attention from teachers who are teaching Graphic Design at Duy Tan University. All my concerns, questions and even my unclear points were listened to, understood, suggested and answered thoroughly by the teachers. It is the enthusiasm, companionship anytime - anywhere of the teachers, along with the useful and interesting knowledge that the teachers share every day that inspired me to love the major I have chosen even more", Ha Uyen shared.

Nguyen Ha Uyen is the eldest of three siblings living in Da Nang City. In her free time, the pretty Gen Z girl always enjoys immersing herself in the deep, gentle and philosophical songs of Trinh Cong Son, Le Cat Trong Ly... besides her "original" hobby of reading Nguyen Nhat Anh's stories. Ha Uyen's future dream is to become a good 2D graphic designer to create familiar products that are close to many customers. Currently studying Graphic Design at Duy Tan University, Ha Uyen is diligent in going to class, completing all the requirements of the lecturers, and still has time to arrange a part-time job every day that "fits" the time slots so that each passing day is not wasted.

Ha Uyen confided: "My family is not very well-off, so right from the moment I entered Duy Tan University, I balanced my study schedule and looked for a part-time job to reduce the financial burden on my parents. The crocheted products I made in my spare time and sold at a shop specializing in selling small, pretty souvenirs in the city center have been loved and chosen by many young people during the holidays. Instead of constantly surfing the web and spending too much time wandering around looking for other hobbies on my phone, I like to meticulously crochet to create really 'cute' products. I'm even happier when the products I create are loved and help me earn more income."

In addition, students majoring in Graphic Design at Duy Tan University also "brought home" 6 Honorable Mentions (Encouragement prizes) for designs that were highly appreciated for both aesthetics and creativity:

  • Le Van Dung with the logo design "Cafefe" for a coffee shop,
  • Phan Thi Chi Hieu with the design "Soncha Teahouse" for a milk tea shop,
  • Dao Thi Ngoc Huyen with the design "Dream Stream Camping" for camping service provider,
  • Vo Ky Bao Ngoc with the design "H'Mong Spring Festival" for the unique festival season of the H'Mong people in the Northwest highlands of Vietnam,
  • Tran Uyen Nhi with the design "Kids Art Class" for the healing art club for Covid-19 orphans in Hue,

Designer Nguyen Tri Phuong Dong, a visiting lecturer in Graphic Design at Duy Tan University, is one of the lecturers who directly guided Duy Tan students to participate in the Logo Design Competition organized by The International Design Awards. He shared: "The students I guide are all aware of acquiring professional knowledge and 'soft' skills in the general program of Graphic Design at Duy Tan University. With the program to upgrade the subject project to compete in the international design competition, I organize it as phase 3 of a project, or more precisely, a practical, independent project with the highest level of professionalism for students. Students are guided to skillfully perform skills that directly support the competition such as visualization, control, AI brainstorming, pro mockup, etc.

The visible qualities of this group of Duy Tan University students are determination and perseverance. They have a sense of professional learning, know how to commit to personalizing knowledge and skills, are sensitive and quick to update. These are the most authentic design students in the Central region that I have always imagined. With initial achievements, the new works of these students have surpassed the threshold at school, country, continent, and reached international level."
