My husband and I sit and sell from 2-3 am until noon, selling a few hundred kilograms of vegetables and fruits, on busy days we only sell about 1 ton. This year, the purchase price of vegetables is high, and selling at the wholesale market is not high, so after deducting the cost of capital, gasoline, kiosk rental, car parking tickets, and other losses, my husband and I only earn 500-700 thousand VND per day.

Vegetables, the best-selling item in the market, were only seen by a few people. Most of the vendors sighed in disappointment.

As for Mr. Truong Dinh Vuong, a grocery store owner at the wholesale market, he could not hide his disappointment: "I have never seen goods sell so poorly as in the past. Sitting from morning to afternoon, only a few customers come to buy goods, the amount of goods sold is only half of that of previous years. It is very hard, but because of work, because of food and clothing, we still have to try to stay alive" - ​​Mr. Vuong confided.

In addition, temporary markets and flea markets have "sprouted up" a lot, causing the purchasing power of wholesale markets to be more or less shared...

It is known that in early 2024, the total number of business households in the Southern market was about 834. Of which, the number of regular business households was about 534, the number of irregular business households was about 300. However, up to now, the number of regular business households is only about 480 because some small traders could not survive and had to return the premises.
