The victory of April 30, 1975 will forever go down in the history of the Vietnamese nation, affirming the great stature and historical significance of the resistance war against the American invaders. To achieve that great victory, our nation had gone through many stages of struggle full of sacrifice and hardship, inherited and developed to a new height the tradition of patriotism, the indomitable will of the Vietnamese people and culture; at the same time, that victory was also the pinnacle of the aspiration for independence, freedom and national unification of an entire heroic nation. It was the victory of Vietnamese culture built from the cultures of 54 ethnic groups in our country over thousands of years of history, tempered in the long struggle to transform nature and fight against foreign invaders, rising up to assert itself. It is a culture that originates from the love of nature, love of people, love of country, love of independence, freedom, peace, from the love of humanity, respect for justice, hatred of evil, imbued with noble humanism and revolutionary heroism, and knows how to absorb the quintessence of many cultures of the world. That culture is nurtured and promoted to new heights, built and developed into an advanced culture, imbued with national identity. That is the great strength of the Vietnamese will and intelligence, of the Vietnamese character and personality, of the Vietnamese civilization.
The country's outstanding achievements after more than 35 years of renovation, "Our country has never had the potential, position and international prestige as today" started from the consciousness of each Vietnamese citizen who nurtured the aspiration for peace, national independence and together realized that aspiration, is the product of crystallization of creativity, the result of a process of persistent and continuous efforts through many terms of the entire Party, the entire people, the entire army under the talented and wise leadership of our Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh, continuing to affirm that our path to socialism is correct, in accordance with objective laws, with the reality of Vietnam and the development trend of the times, and is also the path to realize Vietnam's aspiration. Therefore, there is no challenge that cannot be overcome; there is no task that cannot be completed.
Promoting revolutionary heroism in the resistance war against the US, our Party leads the entire Vietnamese people to firmly step on the path to socialism. Patriotism and revolutionary heroism are demonstrated in all areas, such as: protecting the Party's ideological foundation, protecting the achievements of the revolution, protecting the territorial integrity of the Fatherland and political security, labor production, research, study, taking advantage of the achievements of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, sacrificing oneself to save people in natural disasters, catastrophes, epidemics, national solidarity, mutual love, preserving and promoting the national cultural identity. Our Party leads the people to overcome all difficulties and challenges, not to fall behind, step by step to keep up with the times, bringing the country to develop rapidly and sustainably, and to have a worthy position in the world. That aspiration of the nation is as sacred and intense as the will to gain independence and unify the Fatherland.
Building on the victory of April 30, we also promote the policy of combining national strength with the strength of the times in the current cause of building and defending the Fatherland. The anti-corruption flag launched by the Party and the steadfast "helmsman" have placed the highest political determination in the life-and-death battle to protect the regime and maintain the people's trust.
Over the past 10 years, since the transformation of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption from the Government headed by the Prime Minister to the Steering Committee model under the Politburo headed by the General Secretary, the people have seen a "new look" in the work of purifying the Party and purifying the ranks.
“ The furnace is already hot, so fresh wood must also burn. Dry wood, medium wood burns first, then the whole furnace heats up…” The vivid, rustic image that the Party leader compared to the fight against corruption has become a popular saying among the people. People are waiting for the public conclusions of the Central Inspection Committee, and then they can answer for themselves, which “fresh wood” or “dry wood” will be put “in the furnace”. The fight against corruption, waste, and negativity is now not just a case-by-case, but has become a movement, a trend. No individual can avoid doing it.
With such a strong fight against corruption, disciplining and prosecuting so many officials, how do the people feel? Are they sad, worried, and troubled? Very sad, very painful. Many veteran officials who have devoted and sacrificed their whole lives to the revolution had to hold back their tears when mentioning prominent cases, mentioning officials who violated both the law and morality, ready to profit from the suffering and misfortune of the people. But above all, they still believe that the fight against "internal invasion" will have positive results, believing in the talent, courage, character, and morality of the "furnace burners". If they are not honest and clean, their superiors will not listen to their subordinates. If they do not set an example for themselves and their families, how can they "regulate the family, govern the country, and bring peace to the world". The exemplary, resolute, "words go with actions" and "actions go with words" of the General Secretary, Head of the Steering Committee and key leaders are a solid support, a political guarantee and a great driving force for the fight against corruption.
Over the past 10 years, while working and gaining experience, the anti-corruption model led by the General Secretary has had the additional function of fighting against negativity to fight and deal with those who turn their backs on the Party and fade away their ideals. Also from the Central model, in the future, 63 provinces and cities will have a similar model to thoroughly direct the work of preventing corruption and negativity at the local level, creating an "extended arm" to wipe out corrupt, degenerate, and corrupt officials, from the commune level to the Central level. The people look forward to and support the "furnace burning" campaign despite countless difficulties and challenges. If we don't do it now, when will we do it? Only then will the country develop sustainably!
In the Platform for National Construction in the Transitional Period to Socialism (supplemented and developed in 2011), our Party concluded: “ The strength of the Party lies in its attachment to the people. Bureaucracy, corruption, and alienation from the people will lead to immeasurable losses to the destiny of the country, the socialist regime, and the Party .” The Party pointed out: In all its activities, the Party must thoroughly grasp the idea of “taking the people as the root,” build and promote the mastery of the working people. The legitimate interests of the people must be the basis for formulating policies of the Party and the State.
Today, the country has gone through difficult and dangerous days, and every time we overcome a challenge, we learn a great lesson about the spirit of national solidarity, the common will to unite to take dignified steps to integrate with the world, attract positive impulses to maintain and protect the sovereignty of the Fatherland and develop the economy to bring happiness to the people.
After 48 years of national reunification and 36 years of renovation, Vietnam has transformed from a large deficit economy to a supply-demand economy. Our country's economic growth has always been very high, even during the time when it was heavily affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Vietnam's ranking on many world rankings in terms of business investment environment, competitiveness, innovation, etc. has continuously improved strongly. Vietnam has now become a part of the global economy, an official member of many international organizations.
Today's achievements are due to many factors, but above all, the spirit of solidarity, unanimity, always putting the People at the center, the subject of the innovation process; taking the happiness and prosperity of the people as the goal to strive for. Looking at the indexes of average income per capita increasing every year, the multidimensional poverty rate decreasing over time, the social security system developing in a comprehensive direction so that "no one is left behind", the legitimate rights and interests of the People are protected. It can be seen that these are vivid evidences of the attention of the Party and the State. The happiness index is also measured through criteria of satisfaction with life, environment, social security policies, social welfare... Also with the strength of the great national unity bloc, that belief, our country is entering a new opportunity, a new fortune, strongly promoting all resources and creativity, opening up new opportunities to move towards the goal of a rich people and a strong country.
The country's development goals by 2030 to become a developing country with modern industry in the upper group of upper middle-income countries and by 2045 to become a modern industrial country with high income have demonstrated the Party's far-sighted vision in concretizing the will and aspirations of our nation. As some have pointed out, "Vietnam in 2045 is a beautiful picture that all of us and future generations have the opportunity to put our own strokes on". That is, the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country is not an empty slogan but the goal and motivation for all of us to work together and strive.
Those efforts have been recognized by the people. The new wind in Party building and rectification, fighting corruption and bureaucracy has spread strongly in social life. Especially since the 12th Party Congress, it has been clear as day that our Party's discipline has become increasingly strict, without any "forbidden zones" or "avoidable zones". The "fire" against corruption ignited by General Secretary and President Nguyen Phu Trong has been burning fiercely. People trust, the Party's words go hand in hand with actions! The great path we are walking on has the light of a thousand years shining, the light of the new era, integrating with the four seas and five continents. Fast or slow steps depend on many factors, but the people's hearts and strength are the wings for the nation to fly!
