Launched in July 2022, what outstanding activities has the European Vietnamese Liaison Committee "For Vietnam's Seas and Islands" had, Madam? With the desire to spread the spirit of patriotism, love for the seas and islands of the Fatherland in the Vietnamese community and international friends in European countries, the European Vietnamese Liaison Committee "For Vietnam's Seas and Islands" was established with core members from 12 countries, representing leaders of Truong Sa clubs from various countries. These are Truong Sa Club in Germany, Hoang Sa - Truong Sa Club in Poland, Hoang Sa - Truong Sa Club in the Czech Republic, Love Vietnam's Seas and Islands Club in France... The Liaison Committee has become a forum to help generations of Vietnamese people working and living abroad easily learn about the changes of their homeland and the situation in the island border. Although newly established, the Liaison Committee has connected and organized meaningful activities towards the seas and islands of the Fatherland. On January 7, the Liaison Committee went to Cam Ranh to present Tet gifts to children, officers and soldiers of Naval Region 4 and primary school students who are children of officers and soldiers of Truong Sa. These are gifts that show the affection and responsibility of children living far from their homeland but always thinking about the Fatherland, the sea and islands of their homeland with practical actions. In June 2023, the Liaison Committee organized an international conference on "East Sea and Vietnam's sovereignty issues" in France. There, a meeting was held called "Truong Sa Worries". The exchange was an initiative organized by the Liaison Committee of Vietnamese people in Europe for Vietnam's seas and islands, giving overseas Vietnamese from many different countries the opportunity to review films about the beloved sea of the Fatherland and recall memories of the trip. Here, the leaders and members of Vietnamese sea and island clubs in many countries have the opportunity to share about many activities that have been, are being and will be done to support the soldiers and people of the homeland's sea and islands... A collection of Ao Dai by designer Ngoc Han, inspired by the love of the sea and islands, printed with the image of a stamp of Vietnam's map with Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos circulating in France, was presented here. The international conference "East Sea and the issue of Vietnam's sovereignty" of the Liaison Committee won the Third Prize in the Initiative category, the 9th National Award for Foreign Information, which must have been a great encouragement to the members? When the Conference received the Third Prize, the 9th National Award for Foreign Information, all members of the Liaison Committee were very moved. We feel that our work is more valuable and has more influence. Witnessing the reality in Truong Sa helps us overseas Vietnamese to have a correct understanding of the struggle to protect the sovereignty of the sea, islands and continental shelf of the country, to admire and be proud of the officers and soldiers of Truong Sa, to arouse national pride, to strengthen solidarity, and to raise the sense of responsibility of overseas Vietnamese for the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. That urges us to do meaningful things for Vietnam's sea and islands. Can you tell us about the influence of the International Conference on the East Sea and the issue of Vietnam's sovereignty? The workshop was prepared for six months with the participation of about 100 delegates including professors, doctors, researchers on Asia, the East Sea, economists, geologists from France, Poland, Germany, Italy, Czech Republic, Vietnam and diplomats, Vietnamese communities in many countries.
At the conference, scholars including professors, doctors and researchers on Asia and the East Sea, along with Vietnamese and foreign educators and economists, presented papers of high scientific value, mentioning many perspectives on the East Sea and the issue of Vietnam's sovereignty over the sea and islands in terms of history, law, politics, culture, etc.
Scholars exchanged the latest information related to the situation in the East Sea, and suggested solutions to handle disputes, on the basis of maintaining peace and respecting international law, including plans for marine economic development.
The workshop is an opportunity to update and exchange the latest information on the situation in the East Sea. Through images and sharing of people who have visited Truong Sa and DK1 Platform about the lives of our soldiers and people on Truong Sa island district, the workshop spreads the love of the homeland's sea and islands among the overseas Vietnamese community, contributing to affirming Vietnam's sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Hoang Sa and Truong Sa.
The conference is a place to connect, exchange, consolidate and strengthen the solidarity of the Vietnamese community abroad in general and in Europe in particular. Many foreign newspapers in Europe reported on the event, through which international friends learned about activities to protect Vietnam's sovereignty over seas and islands.
In the coming time, what activities will the Liaison Committee have towards the homeland's sea and islands?
It is expected that in December 2023, the Liaison Committee will publish the Conference proceedings to continue spreading information to international friends.
First is the French version, then the English and Vietnamese versions. We will send the Conference proceedings to the embassies of the countries, so that everyone can have information about Vietnam's sea and islands.
At the end of January 2024, members of the Liaison Committee will return to Vietnam and give Tet gifts and scholarships to children of Truong Sa soldiers and officers in Cam Ranh, Khanh Hoa.
