Exciting Traditional Boat Racing Tournament of Binh Duong Province in 2024

The tournament was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong in coordination with related units to celebrate the 49th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2024), and the 138th anniversary of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2024).

This is an annual sports tournament, attracting a large number of people from all walks of life to watch and cheer.

The 2024 Binh Duong Traditional Boat Race took place on the Saigon River, Bach Dang Park area, Phu Cuong ward, Thu Dau Mot city, attracting nearly 150 athletes from 9 boat teams from districts and cities in the province and receiving the attention and cheers of thousands of spectators in the area. The teams competed in 02 distances (500m men's straight distance; 2000m men's long distance) with 12-person composite plastic boats.

Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Ms. Truong Thi Bich Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department and local leaders presented souvenir flags to the teams participating in the tournament.

Mr. Cao Van Chong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong said that the Traditional Boat Racing Tournament is an important event that the leaders of Binh Duong province have paid attention to and included in the plan to celebrate the country's major holidays. Besides, the Tournament is not simply a sports competition, but also a good traditional cultural activity, with its own identity and has a profound influence on the spiritual life of the people.

The activities aim to create a vibrant competitive atmosphere, serve the spiritual entertainment needs of the people; promote the image and socio-economic achievements of the province, at the same time encourage, support and maintain the movement of physical exercise and sports among the people, contributing to improving people's health and preserving and promoting the traditional beauty of the nation.

After a morning of exciting, engaging, and professional competition; The final results are as follows:

Men's 500m straight distance: First place goes to Thuan An boat team, second place goes to Ben Cat boat team, third place goes to Thu Dau Mot boat team and the consolation prize goes to Dau Tieng; Bach Dang, Thanh Hoi - Tan Uyen city.

Mr. Cao Van Chong - Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Duong province - Head of the Organizing Committee awarded medals to the Thanh Hoi boat team (Tan Uyen) that won first place in the 2,000m distance.

Men's 2000m road race: First place went to Thanh Hoi boat team (Tan Uyen), second place went to Thanh Phuoc boat team (Tan Uyen), third place went to Thuan An boat team; consolation prizes went to Thu Dau Mot; Ben Cat; Bach Dang (Tan Uyen) boat teams.

Previously, on the evening of April 27, also at Bach Dang Park, Phu Cuong Ward, the Thu Dau Mot City Center for Culture, Information and Sports held the opening ceremony of the artistic water music performance on the Saigon River (in Thu Dau Mot City), which attracted a large number of people to watch. This event took place from April 27 to May 5 (from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.).
