The establishment of book streets, upgrading libraries, organizing book fairs, community bookcases, etc. have been creating spaces to spread reading culture, responding to Vietnam Book Day and Reading Culture. |
Many diverse activities aim to honor the value of books and knowledge; encourage and expand reading in the community, creating a close connection between books and readers.
The highlight of the events celebrating Book and Reading Culture Day (April 21) this year is the opening ceremony on the evening of April 17 at the Temple of Literature (Hanoi). The event was organized by the Central Propaganda Department in coordination with the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Hanoi People's Committee, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Vietnam Publishing Association.
Within the framework of the event taking place until April 21, the Book Fair introduces to readers more than 40 thousand books from publishers and distributors.
Also on this occasion, to celebrate Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024, many agencies, departments, branches, organizations, and armed forces organized response events, such as: The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union launched "Reading Day for Youth"; The Ministry of Public Security launched the reading movement "People's Public Security promotes lifelong learning following the example of great Uncle Ho" in 2024.
On April 20, in Hanoi, the National Library of Vietnam opened the 2024 Book and Reading Culture Day with the theme "The World I Read". During April 20 and 21, the public and readers had the opportunity to interact, meet, experience many useful activities, and exchange and interact with authors, works, and critics in activities of cultural and social knowledge significance.
Previously, the Department of Information and Communications of Ho Chi Minh City organized the opening ceremony of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 with the theme "Good books need readers", announced 10 Reading Culture Ambassadors for the 2024-2025 term and launched the Ho Chi Minh City Reading Culture Ambassador Club.
From April 19 to 22, in Son La city, Son La province, the Department of Information and Communications of the province coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Department of Education and Training, Provincial Youth Union, Son La Provincial Journalists Association to organize an exhibition, display and introduce more than 10,000 books, encouraging people in the province to pay more attention to reading culture, improve knowledge, serve work, study and research.
In Tam Ky city (Quang Nam), Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day with the theme: "Books and the aspiration for development" and the contest "Young people propagating and introducing books" were held.
In Dak Ha district (Kon Tum), the Department of Information and Communications of Kon Tum province coordinated with the People's Committee of Dak Ha district to organize "Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day in Kon Tum province" in conjunction with the contest "Children propagating and introducing books".
Meanwhile, Book and Reading Culture Day 2024 will take place in Ca Mau from April 19 to 21 at Hung Vuong Park (Ca Mau city), with the participation of 40 organizations and individuals.
