On April 13, Mr. Nguyen Anh Dung - Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health - said that the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health has just sent an urgent document to Phu Nhuan District Hospital regarding ensuring the rights of patients participating in medical examination and treatment under health insurance and improving patient satisfaction.

According to the Department of Health, on April 10, Tuoi Tre Online newspaper published an article "Patients were refused health insurance examination for the second time in the same day, right or wrong?", reflecting the Phu Nhuan District Hospital's refusal to examine a patient who came for a second examination in the same day.

After the incident, Phu Nhuan District Hospital promptly reported to the Department of Health.

In order to ensure the rights of patients participating in medical examination and treatment under health insurance and to improve patient satisfaction, the Department of Health requests the director of Phu Nhuan District Hospital to seriously implement a number of contents.

Specifically, regularly disseminate to all legal regulations on medical examination and treatment and health insurance, especially the unit's patient reception and consultation department, ensuring synchronous implementation and compliance with current regulations and instructions on medical examination and treatment and health insurance.

Do not refuse when a patient needs medical examination and treatment. In cases beyond the capacity or not within the scope of expertise, the hospital will provide first aid and emergency treatment to the patient (if any), explain to the patient and advise and guide the patient to a medical examination and treatment facility appropriate to the patient's condition.

Strengthening the inspection and supervision of compliance with procedures and regulations on medical examination and treatment under health insurance to ensure good medical examination and treatment and enhance the sense of responsibility in serving patients under health insurance.

The Department of Health requests Phu Nhuan District Hospital to seriously implement the above contents and report the results to the Department of Health.

Unlimited number of medical visits to pay for

Through verification and working with Phu Nhuan District Hospital, the City Social Insurance said that Phu Nhuan District Hospital's reception and treatment of patients in general and health insurance patients in particular must comply with the provisions of the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment, and must not refuse when people need medical examination and treatment.

Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance pays for health insurance medical examination costs according to the instructions in Circular 22/2023/TT-BYT of the Ministry of Health dated November 17, 2023. Accordingly, there is no limit on the number of medical examinations paid.
