In 2024, the Department of Information and Communications advised the Provincial People's Committee to effectively carry out the key tasks assigned by the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Information and Communications, and the commitments to the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee ensured quality and timeliness. The implementation of state management in the field of information and communications continued to be strengthened.
The Department has guided, directed and inspected postal and telecommunications enterprises to continue investing in infrastructure development, well preparing reserve resources, ensuring smooth communication to serve the leadership, direction and administration of Party committees at all levels, local authorities and the increasing demand for information of the people, and other sudden activities under the direction of the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee.
The IT infrastructure in the province continues to be developed, promoting the application of information technology (IT) in state agencies, building e-government, gradually modernizing the administrative system to meet the requirements of serving the leadership, direction and operation of Party committees and authorities and the people's need to use postal, telecommunications and IT services, information and propaganda activities continue to be promoted.
In particular, in 2024, the Information and Communications sector has made efforts to advise the Provincial People's Committee and organize the implementation of communication work for the Festival for Peace, contributing to spreading the image of Quang Tri domestically and internationally.
Management of the postal, telecommunications, internet, and radio frequency sectors increasingly meets the service needs of people and businesses, ensuring service for disaster prevention, search and rescue, and national defense and security.
The development of digital infrastructure with 92.7% of households having a smartphone; the rate of mobile phone users is estimated at over 92%; the rate of internet users (fixed and wireless) is 103.97%; the rate of households with internet connection is 72.926% has created conditions for the development of the digital economy - a new driving force for economic growth and labor productivity.

Implementing the tasks for 2025, the Information and Communications sector has set out 12 key tasks, aiming to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of management and operation, promote the combined strength, mobilize all resources, effectively exploit the potential advantages of the sector in the trend of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution, digital economy to accelerate growth and structural transformation towards industrialization and modernization, linking economic development with effective resolution of social issues, ensuring socio-political stability, maintaining national defense and security. Strengthening state management in the fields of telecommunications, press, publishing, electronic information, grassroots information and foreign information in Quang Tri province.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Le Duc Tien requested the Department of Information and Communications to urgently coordinate with the Department of Science and Technology, departments, branches, and localities to advise the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to organize the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW dated December 22, 2024 of the Politburo to ensure compliance with the functions, tasks, and practical situation in the locality.
Closely follow the direction of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the National Committee on Digital Transformation, Ministry of Information and Communications to advise the Provincial Digital Transformation Steering Committee, Provincial People's Committee to promptly issue programs, plans, and tasks of digital transformation of the province.
Focus on fighting against bad and toxic information, strengthen inspection and handling of violations in press and media activities. Promote communication activities, foreign information, and promotion of Quang Tri in newspapers, social networks, and digital platforms to contribute to spreading the image and enhancing the position of Quang Tri province, and well manage radio and television services, publishing, printing and distribution activities in the area.
