On the afternoon of August 28, at Van Lang University, the signing ceremony of the training cooperation program between Van Lang University and Tuoi Tre newspaper took place.

Within the framework of the program, in the 2024-2025 school year, 400 full-time university students majoring in public relations, a special system of the Faculty of Public Relations - Communication, Van Lang University will participate in a direct training course at Tuoi Tre newspaper. This is also a new media training model in Vietnam.

Teaching and learning are carried out in a practical, hands-on approach, creating real media products.

For the first time, Van Lang University students will be trained in news assessment and photography skills right at the Tuoi Tre newspaper office and on-site.

Students are equipped with basic knowledge of news and photography, and directly participate in the process of producing media products from receiving, evaluating, processing and publishing news on Tuoi Tre newspaper.

Reporters, editors, and experienced managers of the newspaper directly teach and guide practice.

In addition to being provided with basic knowledge of the course and on-site practical guidance, students will be taken to departments with the guidance of reporters and editors, participate in events, and produce real products.

Talking about this teaching model, Dr. Vo Van Tuan - Vice Principal of Van Lang University - said that the school considers the cooperative training model with Tuoi Tre newspaper as an important step forward in improving the quality of university education in Vietnam, especially in the field of journalism and communications.

According to Mr. Tuan, this model has been successfully applied in many developed countries around the world, where universities and leading media organizations work closely to create a cohesive learning and working environment. Students not only learn theory, but also practice on real-world platforms, contributing to the creation of products of practical value.

The school's goal in participating in this cooperation program is to expand the learning space for students, bringing students closer to current events and hot issues, thereby not only learning from past case studies, but also directly participating in the process of content creation and problem solving.

"We expect that Van Lang students will not only become good media workers, but also pioneers in innovating information access, contributing to improving the quality of journalism and media in Vietnam," said Dr. Vo Van Tuan.

The signing ceremony of training cooperation between Van Lang University and Tuoi Tre newspaper has special significance.

Van Lang University - a university training institution and Tuoi Tre Newspaper - a press and media agency join hands to carry out the mission of training human resources for the media industry in an official, formal, methodical and responsible manner.

Van Lang University and Tuoi Tre newspaper both believe that signing a training cooperation agreement is not simply about coordinating teaching for students but also the social responsibility of the two units.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi My Dieu - Principal of Van Lang University - shared that the important mission of the school is to train people who have a positive impact and inspire society.

We provide learners with a comprehensive experience, the important thing is that you live with personality, know how to share, understand, overcome difficulties, and contribute.

"The signing program is very meaningful, helping to spread knowledge more widely and serve society, fulfilling social responsibilities. Cooperating with the newspaper will help students experience their real profession. Similarly, journalist Le The Chu - editor-in-chief of Tuoi Tre newspaper - said that participating in teaching students is the newspaper's social responsibility.

He said that every year, the newspaper receives many students from universities and colleges to do internships at the newspaper. This is both a responsibility and an opportunity for Tuoi Tre newspaper to discover, receive and nurture students with suitable abilities and qualities.

“We see it as our responsibility to be more involved in the training process than just taking on interns for a few months.

"Media situations in the classroom may change little, but the daily events that newspapers receive, work on, and handle are always different. That will provide students with much-needed practical lessons," said Mr. Le The Chu.

With the serious and responsible teaching cooperation between the two sides, Mr. Chu hopes to help students be solid in theory, strong in career, professional in work and life, and to be able to work while still studying, building good relationships to serve their future careers.

Within the framework of the cooperation signing ceremony between the two units, Van Lang University awarded the Tuoi Tre Newspaper's "Supporting Schooling" Scholarship Fund 2024 with 20 scholarships, worth 300 million VND.

By awarding this scholarship, Van Lang University hopes to continue to light up the journey of overcoming difficulties to go to school for many new students with difficult circumstances across the country.
