National Super Cup has foreign referees for the first time, VAR gets special 'upgrade'

The 2023-2024 National Super Cup match will take place at Thien Truong Stadium at 6:00 p.m. on August 31, between Nam Dinh Club and Thanh Hoa Club. While Nam Dinh is the reigning V-League champion, Thanh Hoa is the king of the National Cup.

The special feature of the 2023-2024 National Super Cup match is the appearance of foreign referees for the first time. The match will be officiated by the main referee Muhammad Nazmi Bin Nasaruddin (Malaysian). The two assistants are Mr. Phan Huy Hoang and Truong Duc Chien, and the fourth referee is Mr. Hoang Ngoc Ha (current Vietnamese Golden Whistle).

The two referees and VAR assistants are Mr. Le Vu Linh and Mr. Nguyen Manh Hai. The referee supervisor is Mr. Vu Quang Vinh.

This is the first time in history that the National Super Cup match has had the presence of foreign referees. In the V-League, the tournament organizers have repeatedly invited foreign referees to officiate "hot" matches, to improve the quality of match management. In the National Super Cup match, the presence of foreign referees and VAR promises that the 90 minutes at Thien Truong will be guaranteed to be objective and fair.

In particular, the National Super Cup match will have a VAR system with 12 cameras, compared to the previous 8 cameras to provide more angles for the referee team and VAR assistants.

In the 2023-2024 National Super Cup, the champion team will receive 300 million VND, the runner-up team will receive 200 million VND. In addition, this year's tournament has two additional prizes: the best player will receive 10 million VND and the player who scores the first goal will receive 10 million VND.

Nam Dinh FC is waiting for its first Super Cup in history. Nam Dinh once participated in the National Super Cup in 2007 as the champion of the 2007 National Cup. However, Nam Dinh lost 1-3 to Binh Duong in the match held at Go Dau Stadium.

Meanwhile, if they win the match on the afternoon of August 31, Thanh Hoa will have the third time to lift the Super Cup after the previous two times in 2009 and 2023. Thanh Hoa also has the opportunity to own this noble title twice in a row, becoming the fourth club in history to do so after Hanoi Club, SLNA and Binh Duong.
