In order to help customers conduct financial transactions continuously, smoothly and securely after Decision 2345/QD-NHNN of the State Bank takes effect from July 1, 2024, SHB officially deploys updating and supplementing biometric data from chip-embedded citizen identification cards (CCCD) to protect account security and compare with the database of the Ministry of Public Security.

SHB officially implements updating and supplementing biometric data from chip-embedded citizen identification cards (CCCD) to protect account security and compare with the database of the Ministry of Public Security.

Specifically, from now on, customers can start adding biometric information (face) at transaction points or on e-banking applications and synchronize with data stored in the chip on the CCCD. Updating biometric information early before Decision 2345 takes effect will help customers increase security, proactively plan their finances and avoid affecting future transactions. Customers need to prepare a chip-embedded CCCD card and access the latest version of the SHB Mobile/SHB SAHA application to easily install with the following 5 steps: Download/update the application, log in and select "See more" at the notification on the home screen; Take a photo of the chip-embedded CCCD; Read the chip card on the CCCD; Verify your face according to the instructions; Complete biometric information registration.

Facial biometric data has high security, suitable for the current digital transformation trend in the world and Vietnam.

In addition, customers can directly authenticate at all SHB transaction points and branches nationwide. Customers should note to only update biometric data via the SHB Mobile/SHB SAHA e-banking application or directly at SHB transaction points nationwide. At the same time, customers can also contact the 24/7 Customer Service Center via hotline *6688 for advice. To avoid the risk of fraud and scams, customers are requested to NOT update biometric data via any other website or application. SHB affirms: It does not require customers to provide OTP, password, card number, security code or any personal information via phone or via link. According to Decision 2345/QD-NHNN, starting from July 1, 2024, transactions such as money transfer via account, deposit into e-wallet... over 10 million VND/time; or less than 10 million VND/transaction but the total amount of transactions in the day is from 20 million VND or more, the next transfer in that day must be authenticated by biometrics. Money transfers under 10 million VND/transaction or the total transaction value does not exceed 20 million VND/day must be authenticated by Smart OTP code as usual. In addition, according to Article 2 of Decision 2345, individual customers must also be biometrically identified before making the first transaction using an electronic banking application (mobile banking) or before making a transaction on a device other than the device with which they last made the transaction. SHB representative said that facial biometric data is highly secure, in line with the current digital transformation trend in the world and Vietnam when electronic transactions are expanded. This is also one of the advanced, safe and necessary solutions at a time when fraud and fraudulent transactions are showing signs of increasing sharply, and is considered a lever to promote banks to quickly deploy AI technology solutions related to biometric identification to comply with and simplify the customer identification process. "Early collection of customers' biometric information aims to ensure a convenient, seamless and continuous experience on digital platforms as well as enhance security and protect customers in money transfer transactions, in compliance with Decision 2345 of the State Bank. We expect and believe that the new Decision will be one of the important authentication measures contributing to protecting the safety of customers' deposits in the credit system", emphasized the SHB representative. As one of the four largest private banks in Vietnam with over 92% of total transactions conducted on digital channels, SHB leaders clearly identified the urgency of implementing Decision 2345 to protect customers when transacting online. In the past 3 years, the Bank has strengthened the completion of information technology infrastructure, standardized database systems, and enhanced data security to create an important foundation for the next transformation plans. The Bank also focuses on developing products and sales tools on digital channels, automating internal processes for administration, digitizing operations, risk management, and applying artificial intelligence and Big Data to business operations. To date, more than 90% of key banking operations can be performed entirely on digital channels. SHB is strongly and comprehensively implementing the Transformation Strategy 2024-2028, accelerating digitalization and applying technology to all activities, continuously improving management capacity according to international standards and modern models, while continuing to adhere to the orientation of sustainable, safe and effective development.
