Colombian singer Shakira (46 years old) is facing a second investigation by Spanish authorities on suspicion of tax evasion.
The first investigation was conducted into Shakira's alleged tax evasion from 2012 to 2014. The second investigation, officially confirmed to the media by Spanish authorities this week, will investigate Shakira's alleged tax evasion since 2018.

The two investigations are being conducted by authorities in the Spanish municipality of Esplugues de Llobregat. Shakira has since moved to Miami, USA, with her two young sons, following her split from her long-time boyfriend, former footballer Gerard Piqué. Shakira will have to travel between the US and Spain for the investigation and trial.
Recently, Shakira has faced an investigation by Spanish authorities on suspicion that she evaded paying taxes of up to 14.7 million USD during the time she lived in Spain from 2012 to 2014. However, Shakira affirmed that she did not live in Spain during this time.
Shakira, whose real name is Shakira Mebarak, said she was going through the darkest moment of her life when Spanish authorities said she could face up to eight years in prison if she is found guilty of tax evasion worth millions of dollars.

According to prosecutors involved in the first investigation, Shakira lived in Spain between 2012 and 2014. During this time, she bought a house in Barcelona and lived there with her ex-boyfriend, former footballer Gerard Piqué, and their first son. Shakira and Piqué's first son was born in Spain in 2013.
During this time, Shakira's official residence on official documents was in the Bahamas, but according to prosecutors, in reality she spent most of her time in Spain.
The first investigation into Shakira's alleged tax evasion will be officially launched by a Spanish court in November. If found guilty, Shakira will be fined $23.5 million and face prison time.
During her singing career, Shakira has sold more than 80 million records worldwide. In the face of investigations into alleged tax evasion, Shakira has always maintained her innocence and said she has paid the $17.5 million in unpaid taxes to Spanish authorities.
