Director Ly Hai, director Nguyen Quang Dung and producer Dinh Ngoc Diep participated in the judging panel of the Vietnamese short film contest, for the meaning and spirit of creating a playground for young people who love cinema.
The Vietnamese short film contest organized by Thanh Nien newspaper was announced on the afternoon of May 22.
Ly Hai and Nguyen Quang Dung encourage young people to make films.
"I am very happy to accept the invitation to be a judge for the Vietnamese short film contest organized by Thanh Nien newspaper. I hope to receive many short films sent by contestants. I wish you all great entries" - director Ly Hai shared via video sent to the organizers.
The movie Lat mat 7: Mot giau has currently earned more than 430 billion VND (according to Box Office Vietnam), surpassing Tran Thanh's movie Bo gia (427 billion VND) and entering the top 3 highest-grossing movies at the Vietnamese box office (along with Nha ba Nu and Mai ).

He said experience is something that will come with time, but freedom is precious. Long-time filmmakers who work on big projects have more responsibility towards investors, producers, crews and audiences.
Director Nguyen Quang Dung also shared three steps to make a good film. These are: one's own true, personal feelings about the story, characters, and identities; communication skills and talents; and arousing empathy with the audience.
Allowing AI to be used for filmmaking
Journalist Lam Hieu Dung - deputy editor-in-chief of Thanh Nien newspaper, deputy head of the contest's organizing committee - said the contest's name is "Vietnamese" which means Vietnamese life and people.
The topic is very broad so that young people can freely create when participating in the first year competition.

In addition, the contest is quite open in allowing contestants to use works that have been made within the last three years and have not won any other contests; as well as allowing the use of AI software to make films.
The Vietnamese short film contest accepts entries from May 22 to June 22, and the award ceremony is scheduled to take place on July 7.
Total prize value is 150 million VND with the following categories: Best Short Film, Most Creative Short Film and Most Popular Short Film; Best Director, Best Screenwriter, Best Actor; 14 awards for short films in the Public round.
