Regarding the serious landslide that occurred on National Highway 2, through Viet Vinh Commune (Bac Quang District, Ha Giang Province), on the afternoon of September 29, Ha Giang Provincial Police said that the incident had left one person dead, two missing, five cars buried (one passenger car, one truck and three cars), and traffic was blocked.
Specifically, at around 8:30 a.m. the same day, a landslide occurred on Highway 2, through Viet Vinh Commune, Bac Quang District. The landslide was about 300m long, with a volume of earth and rock of over 3,000m3, causing 3 houses to collapse, one person to die, 2 people to go missing, 5 vehicles to be buried, and traffic to be blocked.
After the incident, officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, the Traffic Police Department of Ha Giang Provincial Police, and Bac Quang District Police urgently arrived at the scene, coordinating with functional forces to search for the missing victims.
Police mobilized 5 large excavators, 1 loader and 8 trucks to the scene to level and transport dirt and rocks.
By noon of the same day, at the scene of the landslide, authorities found a dead person, Ms. Ta Thi H. (born in 1971, in Nam Buong village, Viet Vinh commune).
Currently, the police force is continuing to search for the two missing victims, and is assisting households with houses in areas at risk of landslides to move their belongings to safety.
According to authorities, the number of people buried may increase. Ha Giang Provincial Police are still mobilizing more soldiers to urgently search for people in buried houses.
According to Ha Giang Provincial Police, at the time of the landslide, there were many vehicles and people moving on the road. Authorities request that people whose relatives were passing through the scene at that time, who are currently uncontactable or missing, immediately report to the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police (phone number 114) or the nearest local authority.
According to the Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security), at the time of the incident, it was initially determined that 6 vehicles were traveling when they were pushed down the negative slope by rocks and soil.
