(Dan Tri) - On December 28, Quang Nam province announced an emergency situation regarding landslides at Cam An beach, Hoi An city.
According to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, in 2024, although there will be no major floods, natural disasters will still seriously affect the coast of Hoi An. The northeast monsoon and high tides have created large waves, causing serious landslides in the coastal area of Cam An ward, Hoi An city.
The landslide is up to 225m long with an average depth of 5-7m, threatening state and local property. The temporary embankment was severely damaged by high waves and strong winds, causing a large amount of sand to be washed away.

Faced with this situation, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province Le Van Dung directed the Chairman of the People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Hoi An city to take urgent measures to respond and overcome the consequences, in order to minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
Measures include placing signs, stretching warning ropes, zoning off dangerous areas, and deploying guards to ensure the safety of residents and tourists; increasing information and communication so that residents and tourists are aware of the landslide situation and have timely preventive measures.
Quang Nam provincial leaders also requested to closely monitor the natural disaster situation, landslide developments, and proactively evacuate people and tourists when necessary. Reports on landslides will be sent to the provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies for timely direction.
Previously, Hoi An City People's Committee proposed Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee to declare an emergency situation due to serious erosion on the coast of Cam An ward.
