Unlike many other international stars who use fashion partners or personal assistants when attending events abroad, Thai star Mai Davika chose to collaborate with Vietnamese expert Travis Nguyen - Fashion Director for her performance at supermodel Lan Khue's show in Ho Chi Minh City recently.
Vietnamese designers' outfits are increasingly chosen by international stars and so are Vietnamese stylists and fashion experts - increasingly making their mark on foreign beauties . Thai beauty Mai Davika in supermodel Lan Khue's recent show is an example. Obviously, to operate in the international fashion environment, professionalism always needs to go hand in hand with talent. The encouraging sign is that there are more and more young Vietnamese fashion experts who can do this.
The Aluminium fashion show celebrating 10 years of supermodel Lan Khue's career was held in Ho Chi Minh City in early September. The audience was very excited to see the presence of Thai actress Mai Davika with her fashion style and accessories. Few people know that behind the perfect, meticulous beauty and satisfaction of this international female star are the hands of Vietnamese fashion experts.
Along with the Thai beauty's outfit and accessories, more than 100 looks in the latest collection by Lan Khue and designer Tra Linh also impressed viewers. All were made by a Vietnamese team.
More than 100 looks in the collection are more than 100 mix and match techniques, highlighting the main and secondary aesthetic accents that create beauty for A-list beauties at home and abroad.
In fact, in a professional fashion environment, costumes are not the only factor that contributes to success or determines the choices of international stars. What is equally important is the skill of coordinating outfits or the overall fashion coordination of the show - usually coming from the Fashion Directors, General Directors and related members.
The reason why Thai beauty Mai Davika considered, evaluated and decided to choose Vietnamese fashion partner Travis Nguyen to collaborate on her image at supermodel Lan Khue's show in Vietnam this time is because it meets all of the above factors.
Sharing with reporters, Travis Nguyen - Fashion Director of the show said: "This is the first time I have collaborated with Mai Davika and have many good impressions of the Thai beauty. She is a beautiful and intelligent girl. Although famous, Mai Davika is quite close and friendly with the crew. However, she has many requirements and her own principles to ensure image and work efficiency. She is quite meticulous, knowledgeable about fashion and has good personal aesthetic taste."
"When working with international stars like that, I often build my own set of principles to not only coordinate well with them but also demonstrate the quality, professionalism, and modern working style of Vietnamese experts. It can be said that from the requests of Mai Davika and her team, I also learned a lot. From that, I also understand why Mai Davika is a star that many people admire and invite to collaborate," said Travis Nguyen.
In fact, behind the grand fashion shows, there is always a completely different backstage. A messy, petty backstage, a backstage "crossed and tangled" with the demands and requests of big and small stars. "The more stars, the more strict the requirements. The job of a Fashion Director in particular and the fashion director team in general is to "match" all the requirements, making them harmonious and smooth. In order for the show to end with the most beautiful images that satisfy the audience, the satisfaction of meeting the requirements of each member must also be complete. Only then can the beauty of the fashion show be preserved both visually and emotionally," Travis Nguyen confided.
"My colleagues and I had to handle 100 outfits in a few hours. This fashion show gathered 40 models, so arranging the route for the costumes was also a difficult problem. Not to mention the layout of makeup and accessories also had to be neat. I feel happy and proud to have contributed to the success of this show," Travis Nguyen said.
Taking on the role of fashion director for supermodel Lan Khue's show or many other big shows such as Chi dep dap gio rot song (a reality TV show of VTV with the participation of 30 Vietnamese artists such as Diva My Linh, Huyen Baby, Van Hugo...), Travis Nguyen as well as many other fashion directors not only have to meet the principles from A-list stars and international stars but also always have to develop their own set of criteria for coordination. That ensures the quality and progress of the show and creates an identity, affirming the position of art in the entertainment industry in general and in the fashion world in particular. Maintaining this means that the gap between Vietnamese fashion and world fashion will increasingly narrow.
