Lao General Secretary and President meets with former Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts

VOV.VN - On the afternoon of September 11, in Hanoi, Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith met with former volunteer soldiers, Vietnamese experts, Vietnamese students studying in Laos and young generations of Vietnam and Laos.

In a friendly atmosphere, imbued with comradeship, Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith reviewed the history of the special solidarity tradition between Laos and Vietnam, founded by the great President Ho Chi Minh, President Kaysone Phomvihane, and beloved President Souphanouvong, and cultivated by generations of Party, State and people leaders of the two countries, tested through the flame of revolutionary struggle with the sweat and blood of Lao and Vietnamese soldiers. Comrade Thongloun Sisoulith affirmed that the Vietnam - Laos relationship has become a "unique" symbol of international solidarity, a priceless common asset of the two peoples, summed up by the four words: "Comradeship, Solidarity, Brotherhood, Friendship".

"The spirit of the fighting alliance, the special solidarity, the great friendship between Laos - Vietnam and Vietnam - Laos has been clearly demonstrated to us, the current generation and future generations, through the immortal verse of the Great President Ho Chi Minh: "We love each other, no matter how many mountains we climb, how many rivers we wade, how many passes we cross, Vietnam - Laos, our two countries, our love is deeper than the Red River of the Mekong Delta." President Kaysone Phomvihane also emphasized that rivers can dry up, mountains can wear away, but the Vietnam - Laos love will forever be more lasting than mountains and rivers; at the same time, President Xupha Nuvong has written for many years that the Laos - Vietnam relationship is a great relationship, no song or verse can fully describe the Vietnam - Laos love, higher than mountains, longer than the ocean, brighter than the full moon and more fragrant than the most fragrant flower," Mr. Thongloun Sisoulith stated.

General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith expressed his pride and emotion for the enormous contributions and sacrifices of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts in Laos; affirmed that most battlefields in Laos bear the mark of Lao and Vietnamese soldiers; and remembered the impressive images in history of soldiers from the two countries fighting side by side, sharing the same trench, sharing joys and sorrows, supporting and helping each other, biting a grain of rice in half, breaking a vegetable in half, sacrificing for each other to bring independence and freedom to the nation and happiness and prosperity to the people of the two countries. "On this occasion, I would like to say a few words to all the people of our two countries, especially the young generation. Those who will hold the future of the country, hold the future of the friendship and solidarity between Laos, Vietnam and Vietnam. Laos, please deeply understand the true value, and at the same time, must strive to strengthen and nurture the friendship between our two countries to become greater and more special, to preserve and protect it, not allowing any hostile force to destroy it. Speaking at the meeting, Major General Huynh Dac Huong, representative of the Liaison Committee, volunteer soldiers and Vietnamese military experts helping Laos, was moved to share about the days together with the Lao armed forces and people in the same trench, sharing each bowl of rice, each piece of vegetable, each grain of salt, each sip of water and even drops of blood to give each other strength, achieve many feats, and contribute to the glorious revolutionary cause of the two Parties and two States. Each victory of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers is a victory of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos, just as President Ho Chi Minh taught: "Helping a friend is helping yourself", or as the praise that the Lao Party and People's leaders gave to the volunteer soldiers is that in Laos, there is no place without the footprints of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers, there is no victory without the sacrifices and contributions of the Vietnamese volunteer soldiers. Comrade Huynh Dac Huong shared: "Through many different positions. Mr. Nguyen Tien Ngoc, Head of the Association of Former Vietnamese Students in Laos, expressed his emotion and pride in sharing about the unforgettable days of studying in Laos. Despite many difficulties, the Lao Party and State always give priority to material things and warm feelings like "children of the same family" to encourage Vietnamese students in Laos to have good conditions to study to serve the country and people of the two countries in the future. "Regardless of their positions, those who have studied and worked in Laos are always grateful to the two Parties and the two Governments of Vietnam and Laos, and grateful to the Lao National University for helping to train us to become officials of the two Parties and the two States. We will always uphold the spirit of responsibility and do our best to contribute to consolidating and further strengthening the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos, forever green and sustainable", Mr. Ngoc stated.
