This morning, September 5, more than 23 million students nationwide attended the opening ceremony, officially entering the new school year 2024-2025 full of joy, happiness and excitement.
In Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training requires schools in the city to strictly implement regulations on the time of organizing the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 school year. Accordingly, schools will implement a unified opening program according to the regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, from 7:30 to 8:30. Before that, from 7:00, schools will organize to gather students and welcome new students.

In the 2024-2025 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will have more than 1.7 million students at all levels, an increase of 24,097 students compared to the previous school year. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires educational institutions in the city to organize the Opening Ceremony to ensure safety, joy, meaning, brevity, practicality, economy, and suitability to the actual situation of the school. The opening ceremony needs to focus on creating an impression and attraction for students, helping them have memorable experiences on the first day of the new school year.
The school principal stabilizes and maintains the learning routine right after the opening ceremony; guides the organization of activities at the beginning of the school year appropriate to the age of the students, the conditions of the school, and the reality of the locality. Focuses on building a school culture, ensuring school security and safety right from the first days of the school year; coordinates well with parents to create consensus, share, and support the good implementation of the school year's tasks.
According to information from the Son La Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, the whole province will have over 375,000 students, with 610 schools. On September 5, schools across the province will start the new 2024-2025 school year.
Up to now, 100% of educational institutions in the province have carefully prepared conditions to ensure the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024-2025 and are ready to organize teaching and learning according to the 2024-2025 school year time plan framework for preschool education, general education and continuing education of the Ministry of Education and Training and the People's Committee of Son La province.
Representatives of the authorities of districts, towns and cities of Quang Ngai province said that they have completed and are ready to prepare for the opening ceremony of the new school year 2024 - 2025 on September 5.
Regarding the scale of the organization, Head of the Department of Education of Quang Ngai City Nguyen Van Hung expressed that he has directed the affiliated schools to organize the opening ceremony in a spirit of thrift, but ensuring solemnity. Sharing on the occasion of the new school year, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son said: "The Education sector has determined the theme of the 2024-2025 school year to be "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline". After 4 years of implementation for each class and each level, the 2024-2025 school year, the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program will complete the cycle with the last classes of each level. This will also be the first school year that the High School Graduation Exam is organized according to the new plan to meet the requirements of the General Education Program innovation.
Recognizing that this is an important school year, the Ministry of Education and Training has made preparations since previous school years. Immediately after the plan was issued, the Ministry of Education and Training began preparing for the 2025 High School Graduation Exam. It is expected that the 2025 High School Graduation Exam Regulations will be issued in November 2024. The long-term stability of the Exam Regulations has also been taken into account during the drafting process to facilitate students, teachers, schools and localities in implementation.
This year, the school year schedule and new school year guidelines for each level of education were issued by the Ministry of Education and Training very early, specifically mentioning each task, work that needs to be done and must be done; including two important tasks: directing the effective implementation of the 2018 general education program for the final grades of all levels, and preparing conditions for organizing the 2025 High School Graduation Exam.
According to statistics from the Ministry of Education and Training in August 2024, the country has 41,306 schools with more than 23 million students. Of which, there are 696,309 students in Nursery, more than 4 million students in Kindergarten, nearly 9 million students in Primary, 6.5 million students in Secondary and nearly 3 million students in High School. The total number of teachers nationwide is 1.3 million people. This is considered an important school year for students in grades 5, 9, and 12.
