With the spirit of "Solidarity, honesty, nobility, determination to win", the 2023 Military Region 4 Sports Festival took place in Ha Tinh in an exciting, vibrant, united, and competitive atmosphere.

The unarmed martial arts competitions are fierce, exciting and full of martial spirit.

The 2023 Military Region 4 Sports Festival took place from June 27 to 30 in Ha Tinh with 3 sports: volleyball, football and martial arts. This useful playground gathered more than 300 athletes who are officers, professional soldiers, defense workers, non-commissioned officers and soldiers from 8 units in Military Region 4 including: Division 968, Division 324 and the armed forces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien - Hue provinces.

The competition between athletes who normally wear military uniforms began with unarmed martial arts matches. With the enthusiastic cheers of the audience, athlete Pham Van Nhat (Division 968) performed skillful, beautiful, fast, neat, and decisive movements to defeat his opponents and win first place in the 57-60kg weight class.

Senior Lieutenant Pham Van Nhat - martial arts athlete of Division 968 shared: "With the spirit of training to protect the Fatherland, I have constantly trained and practiced to improve my martial arts skills and competition ability. Particularly in the past competition days, I overcame all difficulties, entered the match with a martial spirit, knew myself and my opponent, followed the tactics of the coaching staff... so I achieved high results".

Football matches are always exciting and attractive with many good passes and beautiful goals.

Thach Ha District Stadium is the venue for men's football (11-a-side competition) which always attracts the attention of many people. 6 teams of the provincial armed forces in the military region were divided into 2 groups, competing in a round-robin to select 4 teams to enter the semi-finals and then compete in a knockout round to select 2 teams to enter the finals. After defeating the Thua Thien - Hue provincial armed forces team on penalties, the Nghe An provincial armed forces team won first place.

Senior Lieutenant Nguyen Phi Canh - Head Football Coach of Thua Thien - Hue Military Command shared: "Athletes have to compete continuously 1 match/day so their physical strength is "worn out". However, with the spirit of overcoming the sun and rain on the training ground, the athletes have trained and have enough physical strength to compete and achieve good results. Through the sports festival, many promising athletes have been discovered, who will become the core force of the sports movement in the provincial armed forces and the Military Region".

Volleyball matches at the Provincial Military Command's stadium always take place in a bustling, competitive atmosphere.

Participating in this sports festival, all athletes in all competitions entered the competition with the highest determination, for the flag and the colors of the shirt. In particular, volleyball is a sport that requires high health, technique, and tactics, so having to compete in hot weather and densely packed conditions caused many difficulties for the athletes. However, the athletes competed with all their might to bring high results for the team. As a result, the Quang Tri Military Team won first prize, the Ha Tinh Military Team won second prize.

Private Pham Tuan Bao - volleyball player of the Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command shared: "During the competition, my teammates and I always tried our best to contribute beautiful attacks and good defenses. In addition to bringing achievements to the force, this is also an opportunity for us to practice health, improve our skills, exchange, learn experiences, and strengthen solidarity with athletes from other units...".

Colonel Hoang Duy Chien - Deputy Chief of Staff of Military Region 4 awarded prizes to the teams that won first, second and third prizes.

At the end of 4 days of competition, the delegation of Thua Thien Hue Provincial Military Command won first prize, the delegation of Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command won second prize, and the delegation of Quang Tri Provincial Military Command won third prize.

In addition, the organizing committee also presented flags to 3 units that won first prizes (Nghe An Provincial Military Command in football, Division 968 in unarmed combat, Quang Tri Provincial Military Command in volleyball), 3 units that won second prizes and 6 units that won third prizes; presented certificates of merit to 18 individuals who won first prizes, 36 individuals who won second and third prizes; presented a certificate of merit to Ha Tinh Provincial Military Command for excellently completing the organizing task.

Lieutenant Colonel Dang Sy Ba - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Military Command of Ha Tinh province commented: "As the host unit, we have promoted our sense of responsibility, overcome all difficulties, focused on providing the best service for the sports festival to take place as planned, ensuring safety and achieving good results. During the competition, the athletes wearing military uniforms were always given the best conditions to compete with all their might, be responsible, calm, confident and always demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, honesty, nobility, and mutual learning.

This healthy playground has helped soldiers improve their health, train their dexterity, flexibility, ability to endure hardships, will to rise up, determination to complete tasks and build internal solidarity. In addition, the sports festival also highlights the motto of being healthy to build a strong army, healthy to better protect the Fatherland."
