Continuous mistakes, Man City held to an unbelievable draw

Manchester City played Feyenoord at home in the 5th match of the Champions League qualifying round (C1 Cup) season 2024-2025. The representative of the Premier League took a 3-goal lead but was held to a draw by their opponent.

However, Man City had to wait until a penalty at the end of the first half to score. Erling Haaland successfully took advantage of the opportunity from the 11-meter penalty spot. In less than 10 minutes of the second half, Ilkay Gundogan and Haaland scored to help the English team widen the gap.

Man City maintained the initiative and the 3-goal gap was enough to reassure the home fans. However, subjective mistakes made coach Pep Guardiola's team pay the price.

Josko Gvardiol was the "culprit" in Man City's first two goals. The Croatian defender passed the ball to his opponent to score in the 75th minute. Not long after that, Gvardiol passed carelessly, putting his teammate in a difficult position, leading to a loss of the ball right at home. Feyenoord took advantage of the opportunity to reduce the score to 2-3.

Man City's weak defense was defeated again in the 89th minute. The home team failed to catch the offside trap and could not retreat to defend. With 3 players (including the goalkeeper) against 5 opponents, Man City were equalized.

Dropping this victory, Man City became the first team in Champions League history to fail to win after leading 3-0 until the 75th minute. This is also the 6th consecutive match without a win for coach Guardiola and his team.
