In the first leg of the match, Al Nassr lost 0-1 away to Al Ain, Ronaldo was suspended for 1 match and fined 2,500 euros for his offensive behavior when protesting against the opponent's fans. However, the Portuguese star seemed to not accept the punishment, when he spoke up to explain the recent incident.
Ronaldo
"Because I am human and nothing is perfect, life has many mistakes but it is better to limit mistakes to become better. Some people are less knowledgeable about things, so my actions are not always understood correctly. What I did before and what I was punished for were misunderstood," Ronaldo expressed.
"I respect the country where I live and that behavior is normal in Europe. Sometimes being too emotional about the game and enthusiasm makes you make mistakes. Who doesn't make mistakes? But I didn't mean to do anything wrong," Ronaldo explained.
"I am very happy to be playing in Saudi Arabia. And I am also very happy to be playing for Al Nassr. For me, Al Nassr's season has been very positive so far. We still have chances in all competitions," he stressed.
"However, I cannot promise much. Tomorrow is a very important match and we know that. We are prepared and hopeful. It will be a great night for Al Nassr fans. My message to all Al Nassr fans is to stay with us. We are very confident in ourselves and we can take a big step towards the semi-finals," Ronaldo shared.
Ronaldo hopes to turn the tables for Al Nassr against Al Ain
Ronaldo and Al Nassr are going through a series of disappointing matches. The Portuguese star has failed to score in the last 2 matches, while the team has gone 3 matches without knowing the taste of victory (1 draw, 2 losses).
In the Saudi Pro League, Al Nassr is now 12 points behind rivals Al Hilal. Their only hope is in the AFC Champions League, but Ronaldo and his teammates must turn around their 0-1 loss to Al Ain in the second leg at 2am on March 12 at home.
In addition to these tournaments, Ronaldo can look forward to winning other cup competitions in Saudi Arabia, the King Cup and the Super Cup. But these are two tournaments where Al Nassr is also likely to face strong rivals Al Hilal in the championship race.
