The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs of Ho Chi Minh City has just reported on its activities in July 2023 and the first 7 months of 2023. Accordingly, in July, the City Employment Service Center received 17,729 applications for unemployment benefits, issued decisions on unemployment benefits for 18,469 cases, and received 55,147 workers looking for jobs.
Meanwhile, in the first 6 months of the year, the city only received 64,860 applications for unemployment benefits, issuing decisions on unemployment benefits for 58,999 cases. On average, only about 10,000 applications were processed each month. Thus, the number of unemployment applications resolved in July was much higher than the average for the first 6 months of the year.

With PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Binh Tan District, Ho Chi Minh City) alone, in July, the City Employment Service Center processed unemployment benefit applications for more than 4,000 workers who quit their jobs in the first phase (labor contracts terminated from the end of June).
In the first 7 months of the year, in Ho Chi Minh City, there were 82,589 cases applying for unemployment benefits, 77,468 cases having decisions on unemployment benefits, and receiving 600,561 job seekers.
Compared to the same period in the first 7 months of 2022, the number of cases applying for unemployment benefits increased by 5,066 cases (up 6.53%), and the number of cases receiving decisions on unemployment benefits increased by 3,251 cases (up 4.38%).

However, in July, economic sectors also created jobs for 26,669 people, basically meeting the new job needs of unemployed workers.
Since the beginning of the year, the city has created jobs for 189,791/300,000 people (63.26% of the plan), of which 84,898/140,000 new jobs were created (60.64% of the plan). Compared to the same period in 2022, the job creation rate increased by 0.12%, and the job creation rate increased by 0.18%.
To connect labor supply and demand, in July, the City Employment Service Center also organized 16 sessions, online job fairs, and provided job consultation and referrals to 69,561 people.
As of June 30, the center has organized 75 sessions, online job fairs, job counseling for 308,038 people, job referrals for 89,959 people and 55,403 people have received jobs.
Regarding the activities of sending Vietnamese workers to work abroad, in the first 7 months of the year, enterprises sent 4,595 workers to work in other countries. The workers mainly went to Japan, Korea, and Taiwan to work in the food processing, packaging, and nursing industries.
