Doctor Huynh Tan Vu - lecturer of the Faculty of Traditional Medicine, University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City - said that fish mint is also called: fish mint, fish mint, fish mint, fish mint. The chemical composition of the whole fish mint plant contains essential oils that have antibacterial effects.

In Oriental medicine, fish mint has diuretic, cooling, detoxifying, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic effects.

Therefore, fish mint is used to treat hemorrhoids, pimples, measles in children, pneumonia or purulent pneumonia, pink eye or eye pain caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, enteritis, urinary retention, irregular menstruation...

Some remedies from fish mint can be used to support and treat diseases.

Treatment of hemorrhoids: Eat raw fish mint every day. You can also boil fish mint leaves in water to steam, soak, and wash while still warm.

Cure constipation: Dry roast 10 grams of fish mint, steep in boiling water for about 10 minutes, drink instead of tea every day for 10 days.

Treating fever in children: 30 grams of fresh fish mint, wash, crush, add half a bowl of cold water, boil, let cool and drink at once; at the same time, take the pulp and apply to the temples.

Treatment of irregular menstruation: 40 grams of fish mint, 30 grams of mugwort (both used fresh). Wash fish mint and mugwort, crush and filter with boiled water to cool, take a bowl of medicine, drink twice a day, drink for 5 consecutive days, drink 10 days before menstruation.

Cure vaginitis: 20 grams of fish mint, 10 grams of soapberry, 1 garlic bulb (medium), put all in a pot with 5 bowls of water, boil thoroughly, then use cooled water to soak and wash. Do this once a day for 7 consecutive days and the disease will completely subside.

Cure red, swollen pimples: Eat raw fish mint leaves or crush them and apply to pimples.

Treatment of otitis media: 20 grams of dried fish mint leaves, 10 grams of red apples, 60ml of water, boil down to 200ml, divide into 3 doses per day.

Treatment of bronchitis: 20 grams of fish mint leaves and licorice root. Boil until concentrated and drink gradually throughout the day.

Treat red, swollen pimples (no pus yet) : 12 grams of fish mint, wash, crush and apply to the pimple then bandage. Do this twice a day. Do this for 3 days, the pimple will quickly reduce swelling and pain.

Skin care

Skin care: Take 10 fish mint leaves, wash them, crush them, use a soft cotton pad to absorb the juice and gently wipe it on your face and neck. Then, use your fingertips to gently pat all over your face for about 1 minute so that the fish mint juice penetrates deep into your skin and wash your face after 15 minutes.

With this mask, you can leave it overnight, because when you apply the purslane juice on your skin, it will absorb very quickly, making your face look like it has a thin, natural layer. When you wake up the next day, just gently wash your face and you can feel the softness and coolness clearly.

Helps firm skin, reduce oiliness: Crush fish mint with a little salt to get a thick mixture and apply on the face. Salt helps firm skin, regulates oiliness, especially in the T-zone. In addition, it also has high antibacterial properties, helps the skin detoxify, prevent and fight acne.

Skin whitening: 1 spoon of pure honey mixed with 1 spoon of fish mint juice. Honey helps moisturize the skin, antibacterial, anti-aging, reduces acne swelling, makes the skin brighter and smoother. When used with fish mint, you will feel the freshness and smoothness.

To get the best effect from the fish mint leaf mask, it should be used before going to bed because at that time the skin has rested and can absorb the most nutrients. Use 2-3 times/week, for about 15-20 minutes. When applying the mask, avoid sensitive skin areas such as the eyes, eyebrows, and corners of the mouth.

Support treatment of mild hemorrhoids

According to traditional medicine, fish mint has a cold, spicy taste, has detoxifying and cooling effects. In modern medicine, it has also been proven to have many activities: anti-cancer, anti-allergy, anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory (acne, hemorrhoids...), blood vessel strengthening (hemorrhoids)... Fish mint can be used in many forms such as: eating whole leaves, grinding to get juice.

In the form of whole leaves, in addition to the available active ingredients, it also adds fiber. Fiber is good for the digestive system, helps stimulate intestinal motility, fiber participates in the formation of stool, helps stool stay soft, prevents hemorrhoids. Moreover, thanks to its anti-inflammatory properties, fish mint helps reduce swelling and pain in hemorrhoids.

In the juice form, the active ingredients may remain intact but the fiber content has been removed, so the laxative ability is also reduced.

Hemorrhoids have many different types and degrees, so using fish mint is more effective in preventing and supporting the treatment of hemorrhoids at mild levels. If the disease is more severe, it sometimes requires intensive intervention.
