Launching community tourism cooperative group in Cam Thanh commune

This activity aims to implement the contents of the project "Developing sustainable community livelihood models combined with ecotourism to promote socio-economic development, contributing to the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems in the Cu Lao Cham - Hoi An World Biosphere Reserve" (project VNM/UNDP/2022/05) on building a community learning tourism model in Cam Thanh commune.

The project is funded by the Global Environment Facility through the Small Grants Program in Vietnam. The Hoi An City Women's Union is in charge of implementation in Cam Kim and Cam Thanh communes.

The Go Hy community tourism and aquatic resources conservation cooperative group (Thanh Tam village, Cam Thanh commune) has 36 members. The cooperative's executive board consists of 7 members with Mr. Tran Ro as the group leader.

The members of the cooperative join hands to protect the village environment and landscape, conserve aquatic resources, promote the value of the bamboo and coconut house making profession in Cam Thanh; preserve and promote cultural and historical values, especially revolutionary historical stories in Cam Thanh coconut forest, thereby creating new and sustainable tourism products.

Cooperative members also connect, support and create conditions for each other to work together to develop their profession, ensuring economic stability on the basis of voluntariness, equality and mutual benefit.

On this occasion, the VNM/UNDP/2022/05 project supported equipment including bamboo tables and chairs, life jackets, and uniforms worth 40 million VND to help the cooperative group implement the community learning tour model.
