According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, as of January 6, the whole province had prepared land on over 22,000 hectares, reaching over 86% of the plan. The remaining area of about 3,500 hectares is concentrated in low-lying communes of Hai Lang district.
Currently, farmers in the localities are concentrating on draining water and preparing the land for winter-spring rice cultivation. The cultivated area is over 9,000 hectares, reaching more than 35% of the plan. With favorable weather conditions, it is expected that localities will complete the cultivation work before January 15; in particular, low-lying communes in Hai Lang district will complete it before January 20. Through field inspections and reports from localities, the sown rice areas are growing relatively well.
For other crops such as corn, cassava, peanuts, and vegetables, 20-40% of the area has been planted. Specifically, cassava has been planted on 4,000 hectares, corn on 1,700 hectares, peanuts on 700 hectares...

Regarding production and product consumption linkage, in this winter-spring crop, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development continues to accompany enterprises inside and outside the province such as: Quang Tri Trading Corporation Joint Stock Company, Song Gianh Corporation Joint Stock Company, Trieu Phong Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative, Thua Thien Hue Seed Joint Stock Company... to produce and consume organic rice, VietGap, rice seeds, and commercial rice with an area of over 1,000 hectares. Of which, the production area according to organic standards is 190.25 hectares; the VietGap rice area is 98.9 hectares; the natural rice cultivation area is 55 hectares; the organic production area is 291.78 hectares and more than 370 hectares of linked production area for rice seeds and commercial rice.

Speaking at the inspection trip, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized that, in the face of unusual weather developments, in order to successfully produce the winter-spring crop, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is requested to closely coordinate with localities in organizing the implementation of Plan No. 5466/PA-UBND dated December 9, 2024 of the Provincial People's Committee on organizing agricultural production to ensure growth targets in 2025.
Direct and guide farmers to focus on sowing and planting before January 20 according to the issued crop calendar. Provide instructions on rice care after sowing. Organize timely flood control when heavy rain occurs. Continue to coordinate and accompany businesses and organizations to link production of crops in the area. Regularly check the production situation to promptly direct solutions to respond to natural disasters and epidemics.

Thereby, contributing to increasing the area of organic rice production in the province.
