The People's Committee of Quang Tri province has just held a meeting to report on slow-progressing projects in the Southeast Economic Zone and the situation of handling procedures for project investment proposals and planning for warehouse and logistics projects around the My Thuy Port area.

The report at the meeting of the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board (EZMB) said that for the proposed projects in the area after My Thuy Port, the investment policy has been decided for the Southeast Economic Zone Logistics and Service Center project of the Southeast ICD Joint Stock Company with an area of ​​20.91 hectares and the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone Water Supply System project of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone Water Supply Joint Stock Company with an area of ​​8.4 hectares. The remaining area that the province is attracting investment in is 90.09 hectares.

According to the Management Board of Quang Tri Economic Zone, there are currently 8 proposed investors in the field of logistics and port logistics services studying investment in the area behind My Thuy port and the Management Board of the provincial Economic Zone has advised the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to consider calculating the overall planning of the port logistics area, avoiding the approval of many small projects that will affect the overall port logistics area, causing conflicts in the future operation process.

Regarding the My Thuy Duty Free Zone project proposed by My Thuy International Port Joint Stock Company (MTIP) to invest in the Southeast Economic Zone with an area of ​​1,000 - 1,500 hectares, however, the actual proposed area is only 156 hectares, which is suitable. The Quang Tri Provincial Economic Zone Management Board proposed to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to guide investors to propose appropriate projects when there are instructions on conditions and procedures for establishing duty free zones from competent authorities.

With the project of Commercial - Service Area of ​​the Beach in the Southeast Economic Zone proposed by Thanh Phuong Investment - Trade - Service Joint Stock Company with a scale of 26.4 hectares, total estimated investment capital of 433 billion VND, this project is in line with the construction planning of the Southeast Economic Zone. From there, the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board proposed the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to consider the policy for the Company to research, survey, and make an investment proposal.

Based on the report and proposal of the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board, the acting Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Ha Sy Dong, agreed to the policy of researching investment projects in the Southeast Economic Zone on the basis of ensuring synchronous infrastructure, contributing to filling the proportion of projects in the Economic Zone, and at the same time updating the general planning of the Economic Zone in accordance with regulations.

"The Provincial People's Committee requests that investors from now until the end of February 2025 need to complete related procedures, prove financial capacity, and complete documents so that the province can issue investment policies on schedule and commit to implementation," emphasized Acting Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong.

According to the Quang Tri Economic Zone Management Board, from the beginning of 2024 to present, the provincial Economic Zone Management Board has handled 8 projects behind schedule, of which 2 projects have been terminated; adjusted the implementation progress of 6 projects and is continuing to urge and supervise the implementation according to the approved adjusted progress.
There are 3 projects that are behind schedule in completing investment preparation procedures. The Economic Zone Management Board is continuing to monitor and urge investors to speed up the implementation progress to complete the next investment preparation procedures to implement the construction of the project items. At the same time, continue to review and consider handling 9 projects that are behind schedule and clarify the reasons for the delay of the Vietnam-Laos Petroleum Depot project according to the direction of the Provincial People's Committee.
