Dong Giang is one of the mountainous districts of Quang Nam that pioneered in supporting people to develop production according to the chain; initially bringing economic efficiency. In 2024, from the capital of national target programs, the district allocated and disbursed tens of billions of VND to support people to raise deer, black pigs, grow medicinal herbs, fruit trees and dozens of other production models.
Mr. Ating Banh (Cutchrun village, Ma Cooih commune) said that in 2022, his family converted about 1 sao of corn-growing land to A Rieu chili. After 3 months of planting and caring, the chili plants began to yield, with each plant producing an average of 3-4 taels of fruit. When the harvest season comes, he harvests and sells them to Ma Cooih Agricultural and Forestry Cooperative for about 200,000 VND/kg, earning more than 15 million VND per crop.
Not only Mr. Ating Banh, most households in Ma Cooih commune, besides growing medicinal herbs and raising livestock, also grow A Rieu chili to improve their income. According to the people, in recent years, from the source of seedlings supported by the locality, people have participated in growing chili thanks to the stable output purchase connection from Ma Cooih Forestry Cooperative.
Mr. Arat Boi, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ma Cooih commune, said that the A Rieu chili growing model according to the chain model has helped hundreds of poor households in the area earn more income and improve their lives. "Previously, the main source of income for the Co Tu people was cassava, corn, bananas, acacia wood... Now, with the addition of A Rieu chili, many households have been able to escape hunger and reduce poverty. Every year, the district supports the commune with 200 million VND to buy seedlings for people to grow," said Mr. Boi.
As one of the households supported in production in the value chain of Song Kon commune, Mr. Ating Cao Linh has created for himself a garden ecosystem, with dozens of lush, high-value crops. He shared that he used to mainly cultivate acacia trees. After being encouraged by authorities at all levels, he reclaimed more than 1.5 hectares of land to grow fruit trees and raise chickens and ducks.
Up to now, he owns an orchard with more than 300 durian trees, 300 mangosteen trees, 240 jackfruit trees, thousands of lemon and banana trees. In addition, he also raises chickens and digs fish ponds to earn more income. Not only that, Mr. Linh is also one of 12 households receiving pension support to develop the economy according to the value chain during this period.
Currently, he has invested in a proper barn, spending more than 70 million to build a 6-compartment barn. In the next few days, he will be supported with 5 deer to raise. With support from all levels, along with his own efforts, he hopes that in the coming time, the economy will gradually develop, bringing in high income.
