Russian forces are advancing in Ukraine at their fastest pace since the early days of the special military operation and in the past month have taken control of an area half the size of London.

The Russia-Ukraine conflict is entering its most dangerous phase, as Moscow makes major territorial gains and Washington allows Kiev to counterattack with US missiles.
According to a report by the independent Russian news group Agentstvo, the country's military controlled nearly 235 km² of Ukrainian territory in the past week and 600 km² in November 2024.
Russia began to step up its offensive in eastern Ukraine in July 2024, after Kiev recaptured a small part of the Kursk region in the west.
Russian troops are also advancing on the town of Kurakhove, a crucial step towards the logistics hub of Pokrovsk in Donetsk, while also exploiting Kiev's weaknesses along the front line.
Russian forces have recently advanced significantly faster than in 2023, according to analysts at the Institute for the Study of War in Washington.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian army announced on November 25 that there were 45 battles of varying intensity taking place along the front line in Kurakhove on the evening of the same day.
The Russian military's advances in southeastern Ukraine have been largely driven by the discovery and exploitation of weaknesses in Kiev's defenses.
In addition, Moscow also affirmed that it will achieve all its goals in Ukraine despite objections from the West.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has repeatedly stressed that peace cannot be achieved until all Russian forces withdraw from Ukraine and Moscow returns all territories it controls, including Crimea.
However, the Ukrainian army is having difficulty recruiting and equipping new units due to being outnumbered.
Mr. Zelensky believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin's main goal is to control the entire Donbas, including the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and push Ukrainian troops out of the Kursk region, which Kiev has partially controlled since August 2024.
