The People's Committee of District 12 confirmed that there was no incident of strangers staging a scene to approach and give money with the intention of kidnapping students in front of the gate of Ha Huy Giap Primary School on the morning of November 15.
The People's Committee of District 12 continues to review and handle according to regulations. At the same time, it directs the education sector of District 12 to step up propaganda work and enhance coordination between families and schools to ensure student safety.
Previously, on the evening of November 23, a number of online newspapers published articles with the titles "Warning about strangers giving money and approaching students at the school gate", "Beware of women giving money to students for breakfast in front of the school gate", "Stranger giving money to students, principal warns parents and teachers of the entire school"... mentioning the case of a 5th grade student at Ha Huy Giap Primary School who was approached by a strange woman and given money for bad purposes.
The information reported by the media comes from the Principal of Ha Huy Giap Primary School issuing a warning document, coordinating to ensure security and safety for students, and preventing criminals from abusing and kidnapping in front of the school gate.
Since then, information flows have worried that the incident was a staged kidnapping of students, causing panic among the people and parents of students.
Immediately after receiving the above information, the People's Committee of District 12 directed the District 12 Police to coordinate with other units to extract camera footage and verify and clarify the incident. Through verification, it was determined that the woman who gave money to the student in the above incident was Ms. VTKL, a parent of a student at Ha Huy Giap Primary School.
Accordingly, at around 6:15 a.m. on November 15, Ms. VTKL took her child to school. When she arrived at the school gate, Ms. VTKL saw NLTT, a 5th grade student (in a different class than her child), standing in front of the school gate borrowing money from a friend, but the friend did not have any money. Ms. VTKL took 20,000 VND out of her pocket and gave it to NLTT, then Ms. VTKL went home.
At this time, another parent saw the incident and reported it to the school security guard. The security guard informed the homeroom teacher of NLTT's class. When the homeroom teacher asked, NLTT had left a 20,000 VND bill on the teacher's desk.
The homeroom teacher checked the bill and found nothing, then sprayed 90-degree alcohol on the bill and felt a little dizzy (unknown cause). As for NLTT, his health was still normal. About 20 minutes later, the homeroom teacher's health was normal and he continued teaching.
