Phuoc Son is one of the mountainous districts of Quang Nam, with more than 20 ethnic groups living together, of which the Gie Trieng people account for nearly 59%. The lives of people in ethnic minority areas have improved in recent years, but there are still many difficulties. The poverty rate in ethnic minority areas is still high.
Currently, the district has 54 Prestigious People, mainly Gie Trieng people with 59 positions, the remaining 3 Kinh people, the remaining 2 Tay and Nung ethnic groups. They are close to and understand the customs of the people in the area where they live, so they can easily bring the program's policies and guidelines to the people in a practical way.

Every year, the District Ethnic Affairs Department organizes training conferences to improve knowledge for Prestigious People in the ethnic minority community, coordinates with the Ethnic Affairs Department of Quang Nam province to organize training courses and improve legal knowledge for this force, and distributes thousands of Ethnic and Development Newspapers to Prestigious People in the area.
Accordingly, in the period of 2022 - 2023, the Ethnic Affairs Department organized to reward 12 exemplary Prestigious People in 2023.
