'You have contributed to saving this Earth,' said the wife of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong when she went to 'save' pieces of fabric that were thought to be discarded.
On the afternoon of August 28, Ms. Le Thi Bich Tran - wife of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and Ms. Ho Ching - wife of Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong - visited Vun Art Cooperative (Van Phuc, Ha Dong, Hanoi).
Vun Art is a collective economic model, founded in 2017 by Mr. Le Viet Cuong, a disabled person.
Scrap Art was born with the desire to preserve and introduce traditional culture, create jobs for people with disabilities and utilize excess materials in the production process to protect the environment .
Vun Art transforms folk paintings into fabric paintings, following the principle of fidelity to the original, but does not limit experiments that can create new aesthetic values suitable to the tastes of contemporary people.
In addition, Vun Art also organizes training and guidance on patchwork painting for the disabled with the participation of leading Vietnamese artists.
Here, the two ladies visited the production facility, where the cooperative's craftsmen create unique products to introduce to the public.
The craftsmen showed the two ladies the painting of Uncle Ho that was in the process of being completed. Both ladies were extremely impressed with the meticulousness and perseverance of the craftsmen in the process of creating the work.
The craftsmen of Vun Art also worked together to create a collage adapted from the idea of Pham Le Tran Chinh's orchid.
This is a new orchid species in Singapore, a gift from this country when Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his wife Le Thi Bich Tran visited Singapore in February 2023.
After visiting and trying to make a collage, the two ladies shared their appreciation for the works created by disabled craftsmen of Vun Art.
The two women also expressed their belief that this model will continue to expand, helping many people still in difficulty.
The two ladies believe that the perseverance and effort in creating each product of Vun Art represents the will, determination and spirit of each craftsman here. It is the spirit of overcoming difficulties, integrating with the community and making positive contributions to society.
In particular, using scrap fabric for creativity also helps protect the environment, demonstrating sustainable business development.
"You have contributed to saving this Earth," said the wife of the Singaporean Prime Minister.
