According to the Center for Vocational Education - Continuing Education (GDNN-GDTX) in Tan Binh district on the morning of July 10, many students who came to submit their admission applications were from other districts.

Holding her child's school application in hand, Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (living in Tan Phu district) rushed into the Tan Binh District Continuing Education Center. Ms. Huong said that this morning when she arrived at the Tan Phu District Continuing Education Center, she saw that the center was closed and posted a notice that it had stopped enrolling students for grade 10.

"I was shocked, I didn't think that the regular education system would run out of quotas. I didn't have time to discuss it with my family, so I went to the vocational education centers in neighboring districts to ask if they were still recruiting students" - Ms. Huong said sadly.

Ms. Huong said that her daughter failed all three of her 10th grade high school admission choices. With a score of 12.75, the family decided to send her to a continuing education program near home instead of waiting for public high schools to announce additional enrollment quotas.

Similarly, Tran Tuan Kiet (Tan Phu district) was also surprised when the vocational education and continuing education center near his house stopped accepting applications.

Kiet sighed and said: "After I finished my transcript, I immediately went to submit my application, but when I got there, I was surprised. My brother had to take me to another center to fill out the application. I felt very sorry for missing the opportunity to study near home."

Parents and students are carefully advised before applying for admission.

Mr. Luu Thanh Tong, Director of the Tan Phu District Continuing Education Center, said the center posted a notice to stop enrollment from the morning of July 9.

"This is a record, the first time my center has recruited students so quickly. Within 6 days, we have recruited enough 630 students. From yesterday until now, many parents and students have come to submit their applications but the center cannot accept more because it is overloaded" - Mr. Tong informed.

Tan Phu District Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center announced the temporary suspension of 10th grade enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year from July 9.

Ms. Pham Thi Thuy Nhai, Deputy Director of the Tan Binh District Continuing Education Center, said that the center's target this year is 670 students, and has so far recruited about 200 students. To meet the needs of students, the center has increased the number of staff to support counseling.

In Go Vap district, Mr. Pham Minh Tung, Director of the Center for Continuing Education and Vocational Training, said that although there were no parents lining up to do procedures, the number of people was still larger than previous days.

"In previous years, people only came to do procedures around the beginning of August. This year, it has been bustling since the beginning of July. With this situation, the centers can complete their targets early," Mr. Tung commented.

In the 2024-2025 school year, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training assigned more than 12,000 10th grade targets to the high school continuing education system.
