On November 25, the People's Committee of Da Nang City held a ceremony to announce the planning of Da Nang City for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assessed that the announced Da Nang City planning was built with a breakthrough mindset, long-term vision based on distinct potential, outstanding opportunities and competitive advantages; demonstrating the aspiration of the people of Da Nang for a livable city, a major socio- economic center of the country and Southeast Asia...

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the planning will open up new opportunities and development space for Da Nang City; it is expected to create new momentum for Da Nang to continue to create a second miracle in socio-economic development.

Expectations are set for the pillars: knowledge economy; tourism associated with ecology and culture, creating uniqueness, difference and added value; high-quality service center. In particular, the two spearheads of the knowledge economy are high-tech industry associated with building creative and start-up urban areas; and information technology, electronics and telecommunications industry associated with the digital economy.

DANANG FOCUSES ON DEVELOPING E-GOVERNMENT AND SMART CITIES

The Deputy Prime Minister requested Da Nang City to urgently develop a roadmap for implementation and determine the key content, progress and resources for implementing programs and projects in the planning; review, establish, adjust and implement detailed, specialized and zoning plans to ensure consistency and synchronization with the provincial planning...

The Deputy Prime Minister also requested Da Nang City to research, perfect, and create breakthrough policy mechanisms; focus on administrative reform , develop e-government , smart cities; strengthen cooperation and linkage in regional economic development with provinces and cities in the North Central and Central Coast regions...

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha also directed that Da Nang City should prioritize investment in key, driving projects that have a direct impact on socio-economic development goals and have great spillover effects; focus on training and developing human resources, attracting talents, promoting innovation, creativity, research, and application of science and technology, considering this a breakthrough driving force...

The Deputy Prime Minister requested the leaders of Da Nang City to strengthen the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels; innovate working style and manners, tighten administrative discipline and order ; focus on removing difficulties and obstacles, creating favorable conditions for economic sectors, with special attention to promoting the development of the private economy; mobilize and effectively use resources for rapid and sustainable development...

Da Nang grants investment certificates with total capital of over 9,300 billion VND

Within the framework of the announcement ceremony, the People's Committee of Da Nang City granted investment registration certificates and investment policy approval decisions to 7 projects, of which 6 projects have domestic investment capital (1 project increased investment capital), 1 project has foreign investment capital; total investment capital is more than 9,300 billion VND.

Participating in the ceremony, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FPT Group, assessed that Da Nang announced the city's planning for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050 at a special historical moment, that is, Vietnam was chosen as a destination and fulcrum for the semiconductor industry. Mr. Truong Gia Binh said that Da Nang City has many advantages, including the highest number of universities/population in the country, with students accounting for 10% of the population. Intel, Synopsys and many large information technology (IT) and semiconductor companies in the world are present in Da Nang. Recently, Da Nang City Party Secretary Nguyen Van Quang also met with many organizations and businesses in the US and had strategic cooperation. Da Nang City has the opportunity to be a new destination for the world's semiconductor industry. "If before, Vietnam was just zero on the world IT map, now we have 1 million IT engineers, half a million software engineers, and are the second largest country in software exports after India," Mr. Binh said, adding: "FPT is currently training 17,500 students, and has also opened a semiconductor training program... FPT will accompany Da Nang City in human resource planning, training high-quality human resources for the semiconductor industry and turning the city into the second silicon valley."
