(CPV) - On the morning of December 31, in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son worked with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith to discuss preparations for the upcoming 47th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee. Representatives of ministries and sectors of the two countries also attended.

Speaking at the opening of the working session, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his delight at welcoming Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith and the delegation to visit and work; affirmed that he always attaches importance to and gives the highest priority to the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; and believes that the delegation's visit will achieve good results.
On behalf of the Lao Party, State, Government and people, Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith expressed his deep gratitude to the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their continued attention, support and assistance to Laos over the past time, especially in the context of Laos having to deal with economic and financial difficulties. Vietnam's assistance demonstrates sincere sentiments and loyalty. The special close, loyal and trustworthy relationship between Vietnam and Laos is "unique" in the world.
Informing that the Prime Ministers of the two countries will co-chair the upcoming 47th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee in Vientiane (Laos), Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith informed that the purpose of this visit is to review and discuss preparations for the Meeting with Vietnam. Up to now, preparations for the 47th Meeting have been basically completed, and a number of outstanding issues have been actively resolved and reached an agreement by the Cooperation Committee of the two countries.
Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith also discussed a number of specific cooperation projects that the two countries are implementing; shared the results of his visit to the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP), wishing to learn more about this cooperation model, as well as experience in exploiting potential strengths for development, towards establishing a Laos-Vietnam Industrial Park to attract more investment from Vietnam to Laos, especially in the field of processing industry.
At the meeting, the two Deputy Prime Ministers discussed in depth the cooperation projects between the two countries, including the transport infrastructure development projects such as the Hanoi - Vientiane Expressway, agreed to remove obstacles, resolve outstanding issues, and complete legal procedures to implement the project in the fastest and most convenient way. The two Deputy Prime Ministers also discussed the Vietnam - Laos Friendship Park project in Laos. The project is expected to be constructed for about 1 year, implemented in a turnkey manner.

Regarding the preparations for the 47th Meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will be in charge of the reception, logistics and propaganda work. The Ministry of Planning and Investment will be responsible for arranging the focal point for the 47th Meeting, both in terms of program content and script. These two ministries will closely coordinate with the Lao side to achieve the highest efficiency.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Vietnam attaches great importance to the meeting between the two Prime Ministers and businesses of the two countries. Vietnam will invite large businesses and corporations to attend and businesses from both sides will work together.
In addition, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son requested ministries and branches related to the projects to directly discuss with Lao partners to handle outstanding issues, complete legal procedures for the project, and ensure the deadline.
Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son proposed that Deputy Prime Minister Saleumxay Kommasith direct Laos to closely coordinate with Vietnam, including the Ministry of Transport, the State Capital Management Committee at Enterprises, and the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province to promote the implementation of key projects such as Vung Ang port; projects connecting road and railway traffic with Vung An seaport. The sooner the procedures are completed, the better./.
