Surpassing 19 other works, the film “Glorious Ashes” by director Bui Thac Chuyen won the prestigious Golden Lotus Award for feature films on November 25.

On the evening of November 25, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism held the Closing and Award Ceremony of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival in Da Lat City (Lam Dong). This was an opportunity to honor filmmakers, directors and actors with many prestigious awards for the 7th art.
At the Award Ceremony, surpassing 19 other works, the film “Glorious Ashes” by director Bui Thac Chuyen won the prestigious Golden Lotus Award in the feature film category. The Silver Lotus Award in this category went to the films: “Mother, Butterfly Day”, “Em va Trinh”, “Dao, Pho va Piano”. The individual award in the feature film category went to actor Thai Hoa for Best Actor in the film “Con Nhót mot chong”. Actresses Dinh Y Nhung and Mai Cat Vy received the Best Actress award for the film “Mother, Butterfly Day”. The awards for Best Supporting Actor and Actress went to actress Bui Lan Huong for the film “Em va Trinh” and actor Le Cong Hoang for the film “Glorious Ashes”.
For documentary films, the film “Those children in the mist” won the Golden Lotus. The Silver Lotus went to the works “Two hands”, “The sky of Hanoi is forever blue - Episode 2: The sky of peace”. In the scientific film category, the film “Research on the application of technology in fire fighting” won the Golden Lotus, the film “Sinking garbage” won the Silver Lotus. In the animated film category, the Golden Lotus was awarded to the film “My dream”, the two works “Smile” and “Grandma of Do Do” both won the Silver Lotus.

In addition to the Golden Lotus and Silver Lotus awards, the Organizing Committee also awarded the Jury Prize for the categories of feature films, documentaries, scientific films, animated films and the Outstanding Cinematography Award for 1 film. The Organizing Committee awarded individual prizes including Outstanding Director, Outstanding Screenwriter, Outstanding First Feature Film Director, Outstanding Cinematographer, Outstanding Artist, Outstanding Musician , Outstanding Sound for the categories of feature films, documentaries, scientific films and animated films. The film “Super Donkey Meets Super Muddy” was awarded the Most Favorite Film Award, the film “Em va Trinh” was awarded the Lam Dong - Majestic Highlands Award by the People's Committee of Lam Dong Province, an award for films set in Da Lat.
The 23rd Vietnam Film Festival is a national cultural and artistic event held for the first time in Da Lat city with the message "Building a Vietnamese film industry rich in national identity, modernity and humanity". Speaking at the closing ceremony, Director of the Department of Cinema Vi Kien Thanh, Head of the Organizing Committee of the 23rd Vietnam Film Festival, assessed that this Film Festival brought creative artistic inspiration, excitement and impression to film artists and audiences because this is a Festival with the largest number of participating films ever. During the 5 days of the Film Festival, more than 10,000 audiences came to watch films at the Cinestar theater system and 30 mobile film screenings.
This film festival also demonstrates the spirit of overcoming difficulties and determination of the Vietnamese film industry in implementing the "Strategy for developing cultural industry to 2020, vision to 2030". The Vietnam Film Festival continues to affirm itself as a national art event with a highly professional mark, attracting a large number of film activists and artists, with many high-quality film works, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture with a strong national identity.
At the closing ceremony, the Organizing Committee handed over the flag to host the 24th Vietnam Film Festival to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City.
