Sustainable green economic development for Lam Dong from the perspective of the founder of TH Group

The planning of Lam Dong province for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, was approved by the Prime Minister on December 29, 2023. Accordingly, in the period 2021 - 2030, Lam Dong province will develop into a fairly comprehensively developed province; build Da Lat city and its vicinity into a high-quality tourism center of Southeast Asia.

Specifically, Lam Dong will focus on shifting the economic structure towards modernization, increasing productivity, innovation and creativity; focusing on developing industries and services; restructuring the agricultural sector, shifting from agricultural production to agricultural economy. By 2030, the average GRDP per capita will reach 170 million VND/person.

Attending the event, Labor Hero Thai Huong, Founder and Chairman of the TH Group Strategy Council, gave a speech, in which she made proposals to promote the province's advantages to serve the development of agriculture, tourism and mining.

First of all, talking about the agricultural sector, the Founder of TH Group believes that Lam Dong with its climate and soil characteristics is very suitable for large-scale industrial livestock farming. Reality has proven that TH has developed its dairy herd very quickly and strongly here over the years.

In Don Duong district, Dalatmilk brand has made its mark on the market for many years. In addition to concentrated livestock farming, TH also accompanies farmers, making local people a link in the dairy farming and processing value chain. In Cat Tien, TH, through Dalatmilk, links and cooperates with local people to develop dairy farming from 2022, with a vision to 2030. This creates advantages to develop livelihoods for people, and sustainably reduce poverty.

The farm-scale dairy farming model of a household in Cat Tien was built with support from TH Group and provided with breeding animals.

Lam Dong also has suitable conditions for growing perennial fruit trees, forestry trees, essential oils, precious woods, herbs, aromatic plants, and spices. TH Group will form economic models under the forest canopy, planting multi-storey trees combined with deep processing and logistics centers...

The second economic sector that Labor Hero Thai Huong mentioned was tourism. She gave an example, the Dankia - Suoi Vang area is the pearl of Indochina, has great tourism potential but has not received adequate investment. "I propose a methodical and transparent bidding, and whoever is capable should do it. In particular, we must build infrastructure first, divide functional areas systematically and preserve 500-600 precious medicinal herbs in this area, and gather a knowledge center here to take care of people's health."

The third area mentioned in Ms. Thai Huong's speech at the event was mining. Lam Dong is a land with many types of minerals with large reserves that have not been exploited. According to statistics, the whole province has 25 types of minerals, of which Bauxite can be exploited on an industrial scale with reserves of more than 1 billion tons, and the ore quality is quite good. Ms. Thai Huong proposed that when mining, it is necessary to follow a green economy, a circular economy; after mining, the land must be restored and high-value trees must be planted.

To do so, it is necessary to use the most modern and advanced technologies for effective exploitation and planning is needed right from the time of establishing the mining project: what will this area do after being dug up and exploited: to develop cultivation, or tourism, urban development, etc. to ensure compliance and not disrupt the development planning of the province.

Need specific mechanisms and policies for Lam Dong as well as the Central Highlands

From the practical implementation of the TH Dairy Cow Farming and Milk Processing Project, Ms. Thai Huong has drawn out 3 groups of factors that determine the success of the project. The first group is the financial capacity and management capacity of the investor. The second group is the role of the local government and especially the leader. The third group is the advantages of the land. From there, a strategic plan is built to effectively exploit those advantages.

In Lam Dong, Ms. Thai Huong said that the announced planning is very systematic. If the remaining factors are done well, investors in Lam Dong will have a great chance of success, contributing to the achievements of the province.
