On the evening of March 18, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , Ms. Bui Thi Lan Phuong - Vice Chairman of Tay Ho District People's Committee - said that Buoi Ward People's Committee had just issued a decision to administratively fine a street vendor.

Immediately after the incident in which a street vendor intended to sell a bag of apples for 200,000 VND to two foreign tourists, on March 18, the People's Committee of Buoi Ward invited this person to come and propagate and handle the case.

During the meeting, the authorities identified the street vendor as Ms. BTL (from Yen Hoa commune, Yen My district, Hung Yen province), currently residing in Phuc Xa ward (Ba Dinh).

At the ward People's Committee, Ms. L. admitted that her behavior was incorrect, and expressed regret and apologized for unintentionally creating a bad image of Hanoi for foreign tourists.

Buoi Ward People's Committee determined that Ms. L. violated two errors: administrative violations in the field of prices and violations of urban order.

Regarding the price violation, because Ms. L. had already returned the money to the two tourists, the authorities only issued a warning. Regarding the violation of urban order, the People's Committee of Buoi Ward decided to fine Ms. L. 150,000 VND.

Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoai, Chairman of Buoi Ward People's Committee, said: "Through this incident, we also remind and propagate that out-of-province workers need to strictly comply with regulations in business and sales, and must not sell goods on the street in places with signs/prohibitions. Each seller needs to have a civilized and elegant attitude and behavior to contribute to beautifying the image of the capital Hanoi."

Previously, on March 15, social media spread a clip about a foreign tourist buying apples at a street vendor on Thuy Khue Street, Tay Ho District (Hanoi) and almost being "ripped off" 200,000 VND for a small bag of apples.

The clip shows two Western tourists being invited by a fruit seller to try an apple and then sold a small bag of apples for 200,000 VND. The tourists refused, leading to a fight.

Witnessing the story, a male security guard nearby came over and said: "50,000 for this much? Don't do that, give them back the money."

The clip received a lot of attention from the public after being posted. Many people think that the female street vendor is tarnishing the image of Hanoi, Vietnam tourism in the eyes of international tourists.
