The cave was recently discovered by a quarry company at Dun Mountain last March.
There are many beautiful stalactites in the cave.
Immediately after discovering the incident, the People's Committee of Ha Trung district coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the People's Committee of Ha Long commune to inspect the current situation and recorded that in Dun mountain there is a cave about 70 m long, 50 m wide, and about 40 m high. The cave has 4 entrances in the east, west, south, and north. Inside the cave there are many natural stalactites, with an underground water source flowing into the provincial relic area of Ben Quan lake.
According to the People's Committee of Ha Trung District, if the stone mining in Dun Mountain continues, it will fill this cave, so it is recommended to temporarily stop mining to survey and consider protecting and preserving this beautiful cave while a business is mining.
Immediately after receiving the proposal from the People's Committee of Ha Trung District, the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province decided to stop quarrying at Dun Mountain (Ha Long Commune, Ha Trung District). This is a quarry licensed by the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa Province for Tien Thinh Company Limited to exploit.
The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa has also issued a document assigning the Center for Historical Research and Cultural Heritage Conservation of Thanh Hoa to coordinate with relevant units to conduct a comprehensive survey and assessment of the scale, value, and significance in terms of history, culture, heritage, and tourism. In case the cave needs to be protected, a proposal will be made to the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee to demarcate it as a prohibited area and temporarily ban mineral activities.
Below are some pictures of Dun Mountain Cave:
When mining stone near the cave entrance, businesses must temporarily stop so that authorities can study and consider the preservation of the cave.
The cave is about 70 m long, 50 m wide, and about 40 m high.
If the quarrying is not stopped, this cave will be buried.
When exposed to light, the stalactites shine with shimmering colors.
Inside the cave there is an underground water stream flowing out.
