Promoting the role of mass mobilization work in the fight against crime

In recent years, the movement "All people protect national security" (ANTQ) associated with the work of preventing and combating crimes and social evils has always been promoted by the provincial police force in close coordination with the Party Committee, government, Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations, achieving many important results, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

As one of the most densely populated areas of Cam Pha City, Cam Thinh Ward has many businesses interspersed in residential areas. To ensure security and order, the Ward Police coordinated with the Ward Fatherland Front Committee to mobilize people to install 190 security cameras in all 11/11 neighborhoods, at a cost of over 200 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh, Chairman of the Fatherland Front Committee of Cam Thinh Ward, said: These cameras were installed with funds from the people themselves and from the support of some local benefactors, after seeing the benefits of the security camera model. From the people's reports, we coordinated with the neighborhood and the police force to verify through extracting camera data, detecting and promptly handling many cases of law violations. Thanks to that, the security and order situation in the area is well controlled, law violations have gradually decreased over the years, with no outstanding or complicated cases.

To ensure security and order at the grassroots level, Cam Pha City Police coordinated with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations in the area to establish 1,163 self-managed security and order groups, 25 models of the mass movement to protect security and order; at the same time, propagandized and mobilized 113 villages and neighborhoods to install 790 security cameras.

In the work of preventing and combating crime in general, and drug prevention in particular, in addition to advising Party committees and authorities at all levels to regularly pay attention to and direct socio-political organizations, departments and branches to strengthen the implementation of activities, the Provincial Police have directed professional departments and police in 13/13 localities to build a model of "smart mass mobilization" to participate in drug prevention and combat. The focus of this work is to diversify the content and forms of mobilization and propaganda; exploit and effectively use social networking sites to carry out propaganda, education and information provision activities for households in residential areas; regularly coordinate to organize mass mobilization activities in key areas; build each village, hamlet and neighborhood into a "fortress" for drug prevention and combat, each family is a "shield" to protect its members from the infiltration of drug abuse. At the same time, promptly exchange information on the situation of crime and drug abuse in the community with self-governing groups, families with high-risk subjects, and people undergoing drug rehabilitation in the community to have solutions to prevent, combat, assist, deter, and denounce crimes.

From the beginning of 2024 to present, the Provincial Police have coordinated with relevant units to organize 57 propaganda sessions on crime prevention and drug abuse for 13,260 people;   4 training courses equipped 580 leaders of security and order protection teams at the grassroots level with knowledge, skills and expertise in drug prevention and control, aiming to promote the role of the core force in residential areas in participating in propaganda and fighting against drugs. In addition, maintaining and expanding advanced models and examples in the mass movement to protect security and order at the grassroots level, such as: "Reforming bad youth, released prisoners, drug addicts to reintegrate into the community"; "Veterans participate in management, education, assistance and reformation of wrongdoers"; "Management and education of youth at risk of breaking the law"; "Management of children in the family to not violate the law"... In which, the skillful mass mobilization model "Improving the effectiveness of propaganda work on drug prevention and control for youth in the province" has brought positive effects in preventing drug abuse, contributing to reducing the rate of drug use among youth.

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duy Dung, Chief of Ha Long City Police, said: The skillful mass mobilization models, when widely and deeply applied, have really proven effective. Because the area is large and the police force is thin, so in remote areas, when mass mobilization work is well implemented, the people in general and the grassroots security forces in particular are the forces that ensure the grasp of the people's situation, grasp public opinion, and the masses from the smallest things. From there, actively advise the local Party Committee, government, and police forces to have measures to ensure security and order in the area.

Through propaganda and mobilization work, people actively participate in the fight against and denounce crimes right from the grassroots level. Thanks to that, the movement   All people protect national security   increasingly developed in depth, creating a clear change in people's awareness and responsibility. From there, it arouses the strength of the entire population to participate in protecting national security, building a civilized urban lifestyle, maintaining a safe area, contributing to the development of the local economy and society.
