Since the beginning of 2023, the police force across the province has actively implemented Plan No. 01 of the Provincial Police Director on "offline fines" through the surveillance camera system. Up to now, thousands of cameras of the authorities as well as of the people have been used to record and store data, as a basis for handling traffic violations, ensuring the right person, the right error.
The Command Information Center of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police is currently managing data from nearly 200 cameras in Thanh Hoa City, Sam Son City and Nghi Son Town. Through smart cameras with very high image resolution, recognizing license plates while the vehicle is moving, the authorities can quickly detect most common violations such as running traffic lights, driving in the wrong lane, not wearing helmets, etc.
In localities, without having to be present at the scene, the Traffic Police can still detect and record many traffic violations through the camera system. Notably, this camera system is not only the camera clusters installed on traffic routes, but also the security camera system installed by people themselves and sending images to the authorities.
Since the beginning of 2023, through the surveillance camera system and images provided by people, the traffic police force in the province has detected 1,252 violations, verified, sent violation notices to nearly 700 cases, issued decisions to fine 473 cases, temporarily detained 26 vehicles, revoked 102 driving licenses, and paid nearly 1 billion VND to the State Treasury.
