On March 15, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment in collaboration with the Nature and Environment Electronic Magazine held a press conference to launch the Writing Contest on Vietnam's Heritage Trees.
At the press conference, the Organizing Committee of the contest said: Preserving heritage trees not only has the value of creating green spaces, increasing the value of cultural and architectural works, but also serves as a bridge between the past and the present, and is a spiritual and cultural place for the community. Heritage trees across the regions have contributed and continue to contribute to forming community awareness in protecting plant genetic resources, preserving biodiversity and protecting the environment... Up to now, thousands of ancient trees across the country have been recognized and honored as Vietnam Heritage Trees by the Vietnam Association for Conservation of Nature and Environment (VACNE).
The writing contest on Vietnam's heritage trees is a practical and positive activity to promote propaganda and education, mobilize the community to raise awareness of protecting natural landscapes, biodiversity, and protecting the environment in the context of climate change; contribute to the conservation of precious genetic species, promote the value of biodiversity associated with cultural and historical values; promote the positive impact of community activities.
In addition, it enhances the role and awareness of the community about the role and value of natural landscapes and biodiversity for human life. The contest encourages learning about the formation and development of ancient trees associated with the lives of indigenous people. Thereby, encouraging and promoting awareness of preserving and protecting natural landscapes, conserving biodiversity and aiming to celebrate 15 years of conservation activities, honoring Vietnam Heritage Trees (2010 - 2025).
The contest officially accepts entries from March 15 and will last until September 30, 2024 nationwide. The closing and award ceremony is expected to be held in late November 2024 in Hanoi.
Authors participating in the contest can submit their works in the form of articles with images on the topics of Vietnamese heritage trees; conservation and care of heritage trees... Contestants are professional and non-professional writers at home and abroad.
The prize structure includes: 1 Special prize worth 20 million VND; 2 A prizes each worth 10 million VND; 5 B prizes each worth 5 million VND; 15 C prizes each worth 2 million VND.
