The Spring Summer 2024 collection marks the debut of Vietnamese-American designer Peter Do as creative director of Helmut Lang.
Vietnamese on the international stage
The runway was impressive when it was covered with Vietnamese and English words. These are poems composed by Vietnamese-American poet Ocean Vuong - the author of the famous work A Glimpse of Us in the Human World .
The models wore designs that recreated the bustling life of the city that never sleeps. The collection's main colors were black and white.
The Vietnamese and English slogans on the shirts and runway all aim at positive values. Peter Do chose Vietnamese as his personal mark with the poem: “I miss you so much, Mom. I’m sorry I made you sad.”
These lines express the author Ocean Vuong's feelings for his deceased mother.
