74-year-old billionaire Thaksin was released on February 18 after six months in detention just as he returned from 15 years in exile.

“He is still weak but he can move his arm a little,” Prime Minister Srettha told reporters, adding that Mr Thaksin, who left hospital with his arm in a cast, was in a good mood and smiling. “He is very happy to be home,” Mr Srettha said.
Mr Thaksin faces years in prison upon his return from exile on charges of bribery and abuse of power, which he denies are politically motivated. On his first night in prison, he was transferred to the police hospital ward where he was held. Doctors said he had chest pains and high blood pressure.
Thailand's king in August commuted Thaksin's sentence from eight years to one year, half of which he has already served.
Speaking after visiting Thaksin at the billionaire's Bangkok mansion, Prime Minister Srettha said Thaksin encouraged him in his work but they did not discuss politics.
“I am not talking about how he will help the country. But he is concerned about the country… because there are many economic problems,” said Prime Minister Srettha.
