Truong Minh Cuong is known to many audiences as the "king of advertising" when he once received a salary of 1.5 billion VND for 30 seconds of appearing in an advertisement. The actor revealed that there was a time when the "golden" time of the advertisement was 15 minutes long, and he "took over" 3 TVCs.
However, at the peak of his career, the actor suddenly left the limelight and settled in the US. After 12 years abroad, the actor returned to Vietnam with the role of the eldest brother named Khon in the movie Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc.
Sharing in a talk show, Truong Minh Cuong affirmed that his appearance in the movie Lat mat 7 was not because of Ly Hai's favor: "The reason that brought me to the movie Lat mat 7 was from Ly Hai's casting invitation. I heard that the crew had cast more than 1,000 people at that time."

Truong Minh Cuong said that he also had to go through the casting round like everyone else: "At that time, Mr. Hai's assistant called me and asked if I was free and if I wanted to try casting. At that time, I also wanted to return to Vietnam to work, so I agreed. Mr. Hai's side gave me a situation where I was working and heard that my mother was hospitalized."
When the "king of advertising" showed off his acting skills, many people at the scene thought it was real: "At that time, I was sitting in a coffee shop in America, I set up the camera and acted. Seeing me crying, people around ran over to ask, they were worried and didn't know what happened to make me cry.
After the performance, I explained to them that I was just acting according to a requested situation. I apologized for bothering everyone. Then I sent the clip to Ly Hai and got the role."
The actor found happiness when he returned to the set.
The actor affirmed that although he and Ly Hai are from the same hometown, there was absolutely no favoritism in him being given the role of Khon.
Truong Minh Cuong also shared that it is very possible that Ly Hai chose him because he and the character Hai Khon have many similarities: "The character of the eldest brother in the movie Lat mat 7: Mot giau uoc is quite similar to me in real life.
He was the eldest brother in a family whose father died early, had a wife in the North and moved there to live. The day I auditioned for the film, all the emotions came flooding back, maybe that's why I got the role."
Truong Minh Cuong is affectionately called "Vietnam's Jang Dong Gun" by many audiences.
Truong Minh Cuong admitted that after 12 years of "disappearance", returning to the film set he felt joy and happiness.
