Each publication is like a piece of a puzzle that brings readers to the whole picture of the historic Dien Bien Phu Campaign. These are pages of novels filled with the atmosphere of battle, pages of poems praising the spirit of Dien Bien Phu soldiers, short stories recreating the moments and people participating in the campaign with a heart yearning for independence and freedom for the Fatherland, and vivid diary pages about the progress of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign...
Among the publications launched this time is a special book: “Sketches in the trenches” - the war diary of a young soldier in the Dien Bien Phu Campaign by artist and war reporter Pham Thanh Tam.

In addition, “Tell the Story of Dien Bien Phu” with a brief narration by writer Huu Mai, young readers will have the most basic picture of the Dien Bien Phu Campaign “famous in five continents, shaking the world”. Compared to the previous edition, this edition of “Tell the Story of Dien Bien Phu” has a completely new look, with elaborate and vivid color illustrations by artist Nguyen The Phuong.
The book series “Young Heroes” with 3 books depicts the portraits, exploits and heroic sacrifices of three steadfast soldiers in the Dien Bien Phu campaign. They are Phan Dinh Giot – the hero who used his body to fill the loophole, Be Van Dan – who used his body as a gun mount for his teammates to aim at the enemy and shoot, To Vinh Dien – the hero who “rather sacrificed himself to protect the artillery”. The story of the lives of three heroic Dien Bien soldiers is clearly and vividly portrayed through the concise narrative of authors Hoai Loc, Hieu Minh and the vivid color illustrations of artist Le Minh Hai.
Kim Dong Publishing House also published the book “70 questions and answers about the Dien Bien Phu victory”. With a familiar presentation, the book includes short questions and answers about place names, tactics, campaigns, historical significance, heroic examples, martyrs, etc. This is a useful handbook for readers who want to learn about history, as well as serving the activities of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers and schools nationwide.
On this occasion, Kim Dong Publishing House has republished in a new form these special publications, depicting the images of talented generals, Dien Bien soldiers, frontline workers and ordinary people who contributed to the historic victory.
The publication series commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory will help remind the younger generation of a time of war, pride in the Vietnamese spirit, gratitude to previous generations, and appreciation for the peace we are living in today.
