After a period of surveillance, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Team on Social Order of District 1 Police in coordination with Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police suddenly raided and inspected the PG Hotel on Nguyen Thai Hoc Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1; caught Vo Huu T. (born in 1997, residing in Ben Tre) and Nguyen Van Q. (born in 1981, from Dong Nai) in the act of buying sex with Dang Thi Tuyet M. (born in 2002, residing in An Giang), Trinh Thi Bao V. (born in 2002, residing in Ben Tre) in rooms 603 and 604, at 6:00 p.m. on April 20.
From the statements of the "entertainment" guests and the call girls, it is known that at 4:00 p.m. the same day, Vo Huu T. and Nguyen Van Q. had a need to buy sex, so they contacted To Hai Sang (born 2001, residing in District 7), a receptionist at the PG hotel, to discuss the matter.
Sang contacted Tran Thi Y Quynh (born in 1990, residing in Thu Duc City) and was quoted 1.1 million VND for one session. Quynh also sent pictures of 10 young, cool prostitutes for Sang to choose from. After that, Sang arbitrarily doubled the price of prostitution and informed T. and Q. to receive the difference.
Two prostitution cases caught red-handed
After agreeing on the price, T. and Q. looked at the photos Sang sent and decided to choose M. and V. to buy sex. After finalizing the deal with the customer, Quynh informed Tran Huynh Thai Lam (born in 1990, residing in Binh Thanh district) to order Dinh Hoang Viet (born in 1980, from Ha Tinh) to drive a motorbike to take V. and Nguyen Thanh Phong (born in 1980, from Dong Nai) to drive the vehicle to take M. to the PG hotel where Sang worked as a receptionist to sell sex.
After quickly taking statements from the call girls and collecting evidence, on the same day, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Team on Social Order of District 1 Police brought "madam" Lam Thi Thu Em (born in 1972, residing in Thu Duc City), Quynh, Viet and Phong along with a number of call girls being nurtured by "madam" Thu Em to the headquarters for questioning. Knowing that his accomplices had been caught by the police, on April 21, Lam went to the headquarters of District 1 Police to surrender.
Through initial investigation, it is known that Thu Em hired M., V. and nearly a dozen other girls to work as prostitutes, feeding and paying them 30-40 million VND/month. With many models in hand, Thu Em hired some people (unknown background) to post pictures and information of prostitutes on social networking sites to solicit and find customers to buy sex.
At the same time, Thu Em hired Quynh and Lam (paid 300,000-500,000 VND/day) to answer the phone, negotiate prostitution prices with customers or other brokers, dispatch prostitutes, collect money for "selling flowers" and direct Viet and Phong (hired by Thu Em and paid 300,000 VND/day) to drive the "prostitutes" to "landing sites" to sell sex to customers.
Through the information Thu Em posted on the internet, Sang learned about and contacted the call girl ring run by this "madam". Therefore, when T. and Q. wanted to buy sex, Sang would connect them to receive commission.
Based on the collected documents and evidence, the Investigation Police Agency of District 1 Police issued an order to temporarily detain Thu Em, Quynh, Sang, Phong, and Viet; decided to temporarily detain Lam to investigate the act of prostitution brokerage, and at the same time assigned the Pham Ngu Lao Ward Police to administratively sanction T., Q. for the act of Prostitution; M., V. for the act of Prostitution.
