Female student receives PhD scholarship before graduating from university

Le Thi Duc Ngoc, a student at An Giang University (Ho Chi Minh City National University), received a combined PhD and Master's scholarship at Dongguk University (Korea) worth more than 2 billion VND before graduating from university.
At the recent 2024 graduation ceremony of An Giang University (Ho Chi Minh City National University), female student Le Thi Duc Ngoc was honored as the valedictorian of the entire school, as well as the valedictorian of the software engineering major, with a cumulative score of 3.68/4.0 for the entire course. Ngoc is also a student admitted to the integrated doctoral and master's scholarship program at Dongguk University worth more than 2 billion VND.

Ngoc said that the conditions for receiving this scholarship require candidates to have a bachelor's or master's degree in the following fields: electronics, computer science, mathematics or related fields; GPA from 80 or higher (on a scale of 100); fluent English communication skills. At the same time, it is necessary to have a solid foundation in mathematics, machine learning, programming experience; research experience in the fields of image processing, computer vision or machine learning is a big advantage. During her time at university, Ngoc received excellent academic encouragement scholarships for 8 consecutive semesters. In addition, Ngoc also received a STEM scholarship from the Asia Scholarship Fund for female students in the field of science and technology for 4 years of study; a Diamond scholarship within the framework of the "Talent Development - Never Give Up" scholarship... From the end of her second year of university, Ngoc began to have scientific articles published in specialized journals. In 2023, Ngoc co-authored two articles published in international scientific journals. In 2024, Ngoc completed her graduation thesis early with excellent results and had 11 more articles selected to report to scientists at the international conference "Research issues in science and technology in 2024 - RET 2024" with the topic "Building a flood detection system from remote sensing images". Ngoc said she will enroll in Korea in early September. Although the program does not require Korean, Ngoc still studies on her own to be able to communicate well and integrate into the learning environment in the new land. Ngoc will major in Multi-media Engineering with an orientation towards researching and applying artificial intelligence. "I hope to complete my studies well and return to Vietnam to work, contributing a little bit of my strength to my homeland, specifically the Mekong Delta region. Besides, I will spend more time reading and learning more about Vietnamese literature and history, because I also love researching culture," Ngoc shared. According to Associate Professor, Dr. Doan Thanh Nghi, Head of the Faculty of Information Technology, An Giang University, during her studies, Ngoc has always shown herself to be a student with good ethics, a serious spirit and attitude, responsibility, and a desire to learn. Ngoc always knows how to make a good study plan, always asks questions about difficult topics, explores new things and often proposes excellent ideas. Associate Professor, Dr. Vo Van Thang, Principal of An Giang University, said that the new valedictorian Le Thi Duc Ngoc is an excellent student of the school, having received the "Vietnam Female Student of Science and Technology" award.
