The name of the festival - GENfest - is inspired by the combination of gene - human genome and generation - generation. Accordingly, at GENfest , people of the same generation but different in dreams, desires and interests will converge. This is the "ideal land" for each young person to express their own personality and identity, especially nurturing their passion for music.
This is the first time 'K-pop Queen' Lee Hyori (left) has come to Vietnam, while singer HyunA has performed and traveled in 2018, 2020 and most recently last July.
Taking place on November 4 and 5 at The Global City - the new center of Ho Chi Minh City, GENfest includes many activities revolving around the fields of: music, art, games, sports, fairs and fashion.
From 5pm to 10pm, the main stage of GENfest will feature “mini concerts” designed for 5 international artists and 10 famous Gen Z artists in Vietnam. Each artist will have their own stage performance of about 45 minutes, staged by stage director Blonde Nguyen.
9 Vietnamese Gen Z artists include: GREY D, HIEUTHUHAI, MONO, tlinh, Wren Evens and rappers Low G, GDUCKY, Phao, Gill. In particular, Rap Viet coach who is receiving love from a large audience - B Ray will also participate in this festival.
At the festival, there will be an art area displaying works from the Arts Open Call contest that is being launched on social media. The winning ideas from this contest will be realized, to encourage young people to express their personalities and spread their passion for art to everyone.
GENfest is also the first music festival in Vietnam to combine with the VBA basketball tournament. The VBA team has designed many diverse activities specifically for GENfest , including a basketball tournament with 12 professional teams, to promote sportsmanship in the community.
GENfest also has a dedicated area for gamers and video game creators. Famous streamers will join the festival to bring a new experience when music and video games come together.
Artists participating in the first event - First Experience on the afternoon of September 28
On August 29, GENfest held its first event - First Experience, opening a space for the public to experience the stories, musical paths and individual identities of each artist through art exhibitions. The art models on display were all designed by students, expressing their own impressions and messages about their idols.
